I agree that the Romneys are a family that we would be proud to have as the first family of our nation! We need more Mitt-men: husbands and fathers who are capable, scandal-free, loyal, and God-fearing. And, for all the praises we sing of him, let's not forget what a strong, articulate, down-to-earth, fabulous woman Ann Romney is!

With all due respect for Kathryn Lopez, I don't think Ann Romney gets up every morning and goes to all the trouble to make Mitt one bowl of granola. Granola makers usually make a BIG batch of it and then munch on it for a WEEK or more - depending on the volume of ingredients they feel like stirring up at the time. :)

Fabulous Ann Romney (who was busy on the campaign trail herself) probably made granola for Mitt because:
A. Morning for Mitt on the grueling campaign trail wasn't conducive to a leisurely bliscuits 'n gravy blue-plate-special at the local diner.
B. She likes making it and he likes eating it.
C. Granola is nutritious; get it in the gut and go!
D. Eating homemade cereal in the peace and quiet of his hotel room beat having the media scrutinize what was on his plate, how he placed his napkin, if he spoke with his mouth full, licked his fingers, or how he cut the skin off his fried chicken! :)
E. She knew that when he opened that zip-lock baggie every morning, he'd be reminded of home and that somebody in this world loved him enough to make his favorite cereal for him!

I don't think that is "too perfect" as Ms. Lopez asserts.

I think that's smart.
