Ads on this site
I’ve read a couple of comments of people who haven’t liked the fact that we now have a John McCain ad at the top of the screen. Well, I’ve decided to add a few more ads to the site to begin making some money. Now that Gov. Romney is not running, I need to put some focus back to my company, and adding new ads to this site is one of the ways of doing that. If you have a problem with it, I guess you’re going to continue having a problem with it because I do not plan to change this. I have a few projects that are ongoing that will only further Gov. Romney’s cause in the future, but those projects will cost money to really get off the ground. So, please if any of the ads are of interest to you visit the sponsors.
Thanks,
Ann Marie

Ann Marie could you please post the policy on comments. I’ve sent in a couple of comments that did not make it. Did I step over a line? If so, where is the line. Thank you.
Incidentally, the ads thing makes sense. We can close our eyes if there are some we don’t like, or just not come back. If we are so shallow we don’t understand, you don’t want us. Thanks again. - P

Doesn’t bother me a bit. I actually feel a bit more at home with the ads. Its like posting on politico.com, except there its the articles which are ads for John McCain.
February 13th, 2008 at 12:28 pm
Oh, and I really like that new banner (the Mitt one) good job!
February 13th, 2008 at 12:34 pm
Actually, the more I look at it, the “people committed to conservative principles since 2005″ could be misconstrued. Maybe “established in 2005″ would work better. I feel like I’m nitpicking here but people might make jokes about Romney switching to pro-life “Oh he’s only been conservative since 2005. You know how they are. I don’t know. Nevermind, I need more sleep.

It’s a commercial world we live in, so I have no problem with Ann Marie trying to leverage that fact to fund this site.
For those that haven’t noticed till just now, McCain ads have been in the rotation on the side banner for months. You don’t notice them unless you scroll down quite a ways (reading all the comments
). But you learn to filter them out (I’ve got some polarizing lenses you can use, if anyone is interested
)

I remember clicking on them a few times when they first went up, just to cost him some advertising dollars.

The nerve! Offering this service for free and posting whatever the heck you like on it!
How dare you?!;)

With all the work you have done, you deserve the benefits of ownership. I personally have really enjoyed checking in on almost a daily basis to keep up to date with developing political news regarding Mitt’s campaign. Since his campaign is in suspension, I don’t believe Mitt would have any objection to the ads. Keep up the good work and make some money!!!
February 13th, 2008 at 1:32 pm
It’s great, isn’t it like using McCains money to promote Mitt !!
I would like to suggest that everyone go to Mitts web site and download the free screen saver. It has some wonderful pictures and serves as a daily reminder of our support for Mitt.
February 13th, 2008 at 1:36 pm
I don’t mind at all! I’m so glad you are running this site - it has been such a source of hope since Mitt suspended his campaign. I read every article. Please keep up the great work.

Anne, you’re doing a great job. It doesn’t bother me at all, infact it just reminds me how I can’t stand McCain and how I could never vote for him.
I absolutely LOVE the new flashing pictures of Mitt with his supporters. Everytime I look at Governor Romney, I feel calm and reassured. I truly hope he stays in politics because we desperately need him more than ever before.

Fine, do whatever you need to maintain this site. We know who we are voting for, and I will never vote for John McCain, and I don’t think that the game is over yet. Huckabee has been doing pretty well to cut McCain’s votes among the true conservatives, and I hope that Huckabee will continue his effort for conservative’s cause. McCain has to win more than 400 delegates in those Red States to secure his nomination where I hope Huckabee will be doing very well. I believe still there will be a chance that the Republican Party will be forced to a brokered convention, which I believe Romney still have a chance to present his view for the future of the party. Let us continue to support Huckabee for our conservative’s common cause.
To be truthfully, I don’t even know if McCain goes to any church on Sunday. Never mind, just feel nausea when I saw Bush’s are endorsing McCain. He mismanaged the war in Iraq, now he wants McCain to keep his legacy? Give me a break, he and Karl Rove made a prefect timing on the war in Iraq before the election for his second term, because they knew people usually didn’t want to change the President during the war time. Why he didn’t take Iran as the target when every one in this planet knows that Iran has been developing the nuclear weapon for some many years with supports from Russia and China. Iraq has no advantage in technology to develop such weapon as they were 20 years behind Iran. It was a wrong decision made by Bush’s administration, and they have gone to nowhere as of yet.

We are conservatives, therefore in favor of capitalism. So Anne Marie should do whatever she wants to earn an honest dollar. I use mozilla firefox which has an ad blocker, so for a while I had no idea what everyone was talking about. I reopened the site in explorer so I could see the ad that was causing such a ruckus. Besides, I think it is poetic justice that a Mitt Romney site is getting money from McCain. Go Mitt!!!
February 13th, 2008 at 2:08 pm
Helen,
I greatly disagree about Hucka “bee” in’ a conservative. With the exception of his pro-life position he’s a Democrat in Republican’s clothing. I’d never vote for him, he’s not only NOT conservative he’s a bigot as well. NO TO HUCKABEE!
February 13th, 2008 at 2:25 pm
Is it true that you have to click on an ad to get it to cost McCain money? I am seeing McCain ads all over the internet and would love to make it costly for him. If I click on the ad, it gives me a choice to join McCain which I don’t want to do. At what point does Ann get paid?
February 13th, 2008 at 2:25 pm
Also, do we have to click on other ads we see in order for her to get money?
February 13th, 2008 at 3:02 pm
Ann,
I know that Huckabee is not a True conservative, but is a leader of anti-business and anti-capitalism. Since the Iowa primary, he has been splitting Romney’s conservative’s votes as the religion right. However, since Romney suspended his race last week, Huckabee has been working very hard and trying to cut McCain’s gain, which will be benefiting to Romney. If Huckabee can stop McCain getting the delegates he needed, and then will force the Party to have a brokered convention. I am sure that at the present, McCain wouldn’t offer anything to Huckabee, because he believes that Huckabee may not have much value to his general election when he moves to the center/middle by then. My only hope to Huckabee is that he can stay in the race until McCain gets the number needed, otherwise, the game will be continue.
Ron Paul had a speech last weekend in Houston that he was hoping Romney could stay all the way to convention to force a brokered convention, and he felt that chance was very slim after Romney suspended his campaign. As I look at the history, I believe if Huckabee stays in this race as long as he can, we might have a chance of repeating the history. Huckabee will have no chance to get 1,191 needed for the nomination anyway, but if he can stop McCain getting that number, and then, every one will have a chance again for the nomination, and specially, it would be good for Romney. McCain tried to use Huckabee to cut Romney’s delegates in past, now; we are seeing the same thing that works against McCain himself.

Ann keep up the great work. If putting adds will continue this website and promoting Romney for 2012 then great. We do need to continue to be active in favor of governor Romney. It is very very likely we are going to have a very reckless president (Obama), and he has to be defeated in 2012. It starts in the here and now. No time to waste.

But seriously, if you’re going to advertise a Republican candidate, why not at least promote the only man who runs a campaign based on the Constitution? I think it was Thomas Jefferson who warned us about allegiance to parties instead of the Constitution. The debate should be centered on the Constitution, not what special interest or cause you believe in, shouldn’t it?
Ironically, Ron Paul is the only candidate that runs on a platform that’s purely Republican. Why any bloggers/posters on this board, whom I would consider more educated about Republican principles than the average bear, would not enthusiastically support and promote the very man who LIVES what YOU ALL (we) preach, is just a testament to how far the MSM influences good people to look the other way.
It’s not Ron Paul people, it’s his message. He, however, is the only one with the courage to preach the principles of limited gov’t.
So why not take Ron Paul’s money while actually promoting the very ideology and principles YOU believe in! Otherwise, isn’t promoting McCain a vote for war, war, war, bigger gov’t, less freedom, higher taxes, another immoral, adulterous, dishonest man as leader? Honestly, why would you want to associate yourself with that despicable man? I do not get it.
It’s not Ron Paul, it’s about our beloved Constitution and the heritage of freedom it vouchsafed to us.
Last thing, many of you must not have children, or don’t mind the idea of them having to possibly get drafted and die for more immoral, 100+ years war which McCain is actually stupid enough (you would think it would be stupid) to promote as his policy. This is serious. Your children’s’ lives may be at stake, not to mention your own liberty.
No ma’am and no sir, I cannot support any evil, much less the lesser of multiple evil choices. Ron Paul is like a light in darkness, and the very “light” on this blog does not even comprehend it when it’s noonday!

A question kind of related:
Is it possible to make a mobile friendly verson of coMITTed? Drudge and Politico both have one and it really is great. Even without it I still visit on my phone, it just takes like 3 minutes to stop loading.
Forgive me if I’m asking way too much. I don’t know a lot about website hosting.
February 13th, 2008 at 5:44 pm
Joe,
Let me give you three reasons wy I am not supporting Ron Paul.
1) too radical
2) too radical, wants to get rid of 85% of the government, (I agree with getting grid of about 50% starting with the democratic congress)
3) too radical, wants America to become a isolationist country, never going to happen
Okay so you see Ron Paul is more of a Libertarian than a Republican. Libertarians don’t believe in Social Conservative causes, they are the party of “Live and let live” and that can be found on their website
http://www.lp.org
I have toyed with the idea of becoming a libertarian but I am absolutely turned away by the extremes in their positions. I can’t vote for a Libertarian running as a Republican. If Ron Paul can’t run as he truly believes, as a libertarian then I can’t vote for him. He is not a Republican he is a Libertarian. and he is TOO RADICAL for my taste.
February 13th, 2008 at 5:56 pm
Sarah,
I was a very active Libertarian for a number of years but got tired of the homosexual presence and that drove me away. However, despite the lack of social conservatism as you pointed out, they are spot on in about every other category that’s important to a conservative.
But what specifically do you have a problem with (regarding RP)?
1) If he’s too radical then the Republican Party platform is, because he’s running on it, is he not?!
2) He will get rid of a lot of government, but is has to phased out. Do you have a problem with getting rid of the problem (the government), esp, many of the unconstitutional agencies?
3) He has debunked that charge time and again. He’s not an isolationist. He’s a non-interventionist, as the Founding Fathers often preached? What reasons do you base your opposition to his foreign policy?
And what do you mean he’s not running for what he believes?
He’s very clear in his beliefs, why would you want to believe otherwise?
February 13th, 2008 at 6:56 pm
Joe,
Ron Paul has me until he preaches isolationism. Sticking our heads in the sand does not make our problems go away and in fact makes the world much more dangerous. The world is much to intermingled and complex for that to work…
February 13th, 2008 at 8:05 pm
I am glad you’rs still here, it is ironic, you get to make money off McCain= money to be used possibly to promote Mitt in the future… It is amazing the amount of dems voting their ticket, and the prpoprtions of Repubs voting in their primary. This just may teir year, and it may be the smartest thing Mitt ever did to suspend his campaign.
February 13th, 2008 at 8:10 pm
While I highly disagree with you Ann it is your website and you can and are doing anything you wish. If it was any ad it would be OK but it’s John McCain…
February 13th, 2008 at 8:53 pm
I think it is great, I have been visiting McCain ad sites frequently to click away. I want that slimeball broke for the generals. The more McCain ads, the merrier
February 13th, 2008 at 10:49 pm
Frozone,
“isolationism” - n. A national policy of abstaining from political or economic relations with other countries.
Ron Paul is not advocating isolationism. This man has spoken over and over about that topic through the years, and this just shows you haven’t researched him at all. Enemies of him may cry “isolationist”, as if that’s a great evil in the first place. But he’s not.
I found the following in a couple clicks at his website which should be informative to you. He’s been an honorable representative for years and is a bona fide expert on foreign policy, but most importantly he’s well-read, a student of history and our Founding Fathers:
“I believe our founding fathers had it right when they argued for peace and commerce between nations, and against entangling political and military alliances. In other words, noninterventionism.
“Noninterventionism is not isolationism. Nonintervention simply means America does not interfere militarily, financially, or covertly in the internal affairs of other nations. It does not we that we isolate ourselves; on the contrary, our founders advocated open trade, travel, communication, and diplomacy with other nations.
“Thomas Jefferson summed up the noninterventionist foreign policy position perfectly in his 1801 inaugural address: “Peace, commerce, and honest friendship with all nations- entangling alliances with none.” Washington similarly urged that we must, “Act for ourselves and not for others,” by forming an “American character wholly free of foreign attachments.”
“Yet how many times have we all heard these wise words without taking them to heart? How many claim to admire Jefferson and Washington, but conveniently ignore both when it comes to American foreign policy? Since so many apparently now believe Washington and Jefferson were wrong on the critical matter of foreign policy, they should at least have the intellectual honesty to admit it.”
The very things many conservatives don’t like about Ron Paul are simply not true, they are the lies repeated by MSM. Please take a moment and educate yourself. And know that McCain is as evil as they come. He’s a miserable man and a servant of know good cause or entity.
