Dear Mike

February 9th, 2008 Posted in Huckabee

You no longer have a chance of replacing McCain as the nominee. By staying in the race, you will only hurt McCain. By hurting McCain, you could give the election to Obama. Obama would leave Iraq too early. It could be very bad if we leave Iraq too early. Therefore you should leave the race.

It is not likely that McCain will have a macaca moment, and have to be replaced, and even if he does have to be replaced, your staying in after getting less votes and than Romney seems pretty pathetic.

Mitt’s departure of the race on Thursday was absolutely brilliant. I believe that McCain’s people are already thinking Romney may be the one to help galvanize the base. McCain = War, Romney = Economy. Other reasons to put Romney on the ticket: Romney looks young and energetic, Romney has fundraising prowess, Romney has a good family, Romney will fight the democrats with the same vigor he fought off Rudy, John and Mike.

I’m not sure that Mitt going on McCain’s ticket would be a good thing. It defeats Mitt’s message of having an outsider going to Washington and bringing conservative change. Mitt can’t make that argument by being McCain’s VP and a part of John’s administration. Also, what happens if Barack Obama is the dems nominee. McCain would get killed in a debate and lose the election. Mitt would then be the next John Edwards. I’d rather see Mitt as the next chairman of the RNC and help conservatives get elected throughout the country. thus leaving him open to becoming the standard bearer for conservatism. Finally, Mike Huckabee is trying his best to minimize Mitt’s departure and to maintain some type of relevance and your right it is pathetic. If by some miracle the race made it to convention, Huckabee would never be the nominee. The nomination would go to Mitt due to voice of conservatism being loud and clear regarding the direction this country should go.

My two cents worth: Gov. Romney should steer clear of McCain’s candidacy. McCain may well lose in a landslide and we don’t need to get involved in that. Gov. Romney offered his outstanding candidacy to Republicans for over a year and, golly gee whiz, they had to take a little look see at McCain and they waited for months for Thompson to get off the dime, then they had to check out Pastor Mike and in their infinite wisdom they handed him a victory in Iowa and on and on it goes. Now these folks are more than welcome to try to take on Hillary/Obama without the conservative wing of the Republican party.

I voted for Gov. Romney in the Missouri primary and if McCain is the nominee, I will write-in Romney in the general. If that fails, then the Geraldo Rivera wing of the Republican party will in all likelihood go down in flames and those of us who represent the Reagan coalition will be more than happy to purge the party of the rocket scientists who set us up for a McCain nomination. After closing this sad chapter on our party’s history, we can then start the work of writing the next chapter, a return to the conservative principles that made the party great.

I agree John. I think the Dems will roll over the GOP this election. Look at the number of Dems voting versus GOP in the primaries as well as fundraising. It isn’t even close.

I would be suprised if the VP slot was offered to Mitt, then again, who knows what goes on behind the scenes.

I think Mitt has positioned himself quite well for front runner position in 2012. He has gotten much better in connecting with people, especially in his last talk. Another couple of years of fine tuning and he should do much better this time around.

It’s not about the GOP….It’s not about America….you see, it is, and has always been all about Mike. Thus, he is staying in as a power play for his own personal gain. He spouts populist viewpoints in direct contention to his own desires of elevating self-worth. More and more GOP’ers will hold this against him and you can say goodbye to his popularity come 2012.

Let us support Huckabee and keep him staying in race and preventing McCain to get 1,191 delegates he needed to secure his nomination. Conservatives need to united together and push this primary to a brokered convention. Take a look at our party’s history; every time when we had a brokered convention, we win the general election. I am sure that if the conservatives get a brokered convention this time, Romney will be able to convince all the delegates that he would be the ONLY CANDIDATE who can win the general election and keep the White House within the Republican. The Republican has a history of being a coalition, and Romney will be able to united and lead this coalition moving forward.

Let us watch how Huckabee is doing in next few months. So far, so good.

I wish Huckabee to keep a good work, and continue to fight for conservative cause. If Romney stays in, it would only further split the conservative delegates since Huckabee refused to drop out, and this will only benefit McCain. As long as McCain can’t get 1,191 delegates, he can’t secure the nomination, and will force the party to have a brokered convention. By then, Romney will have the opportunity of coming back to the race for nomination.
