Aftermath Polls
It’s a sad day for me, but after watching Romney’s amazing speech at CPAC, I am feeling very good, even encouraged about the future. (Anyone thinking 2012?) In his very gracious speech Romney has almost convinced me to support McCain in the general though I was adamantly opposed before that. I’ll still take time to decide what to do next - but for some reason I am in a very good mood. Maybe it’s because I’m realizing all the extra free time I will have now
Anyways, I wanted to get a census on what other supporters are thinking regarding the future of the elections. In some of the questions below I’m an not putting an ‘undecided’ option so not to give you an easy way out.
So tell me..

Why on earth would Huckabee stay in the race? He is in the race for personal glory. What a bigot! I just can’t stand that man.
February 7th, 2008 at 4:59 pm
OMG, I could not vote on that first poll. It was physically impossible. Sorry, can’t do it.
February 7th, 2008 at 5:06 pm
Same thing as KV. There was no acceptable answer to choose on the first question.
Huckabee is in just in case McCain gets hit by a train. It’s the only way he’ll ever get that close again. He won’t be able to fool the evangelicals again. Next time they’ll vote with their hearts, and their heads. - P

DEAR GOVERNOR ROMNEY,
I AM WRITING TO EXPRESS MY SADNESS WHEN MY HUSBAND CALLED ME FROM SAN FRANCISCO ABOUT YOUR DECISION, AND I WANT TO USE THIS BOARD TO SPEAK TO OUR FELLOW REPUBLICANS THE FOLLOWING:
1) I WISH GOVERNOR ROMNEY TO KEEP THE “ROMNEY FOR PRESIDENT DONATION FUNDS” OPEN, SO THAT WE CAN CONTINUE TO DONATE OUR MONEY WITHIN THE LIMITATION OF CAMPAIGN LAW REQUIRED (WAS $1,000/PERSON/YEAR?) FOR 2012 ELECTION.
2) I WILL NOT VOTE FOR MCCAIN AND WHOEVER WOULD BE HIS VP, BUT WILL VOTE FOR OBAMA, TO CHALLENGE THE REPUBLICAN PARTY ON THESE REASONS:
A) THE REPUBLICAN PARTY IS GETTING SMALLER AND SMALLER, BECAUSE THEY CAN’T STAND ON IT’S PRINCIPLES ON SMALL GOVERNMENT, LOWER TAX, AND ZERO TOLERANCE OF CORRUPTION. AMONG THESE 2008 REPUBLICAN PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES, HALF OF THEM ARE EITHER HAVE A CONNECTIONS WITH THE CORRUPTIONS SUCH AS GIULIANI AND HUCHABEE, OR DIRECT INVOLVED IN THE CORRUPTION IN PAST. I FEEL THAT THE REPUBLICAN PARTY IS GOING TO A WRONG DIRECTION, AND DON’T WANT TO BE A PART OF IT.
B). THE REPUBLICAN PARTY HAS VERY LOW TOLERANCE TO RACE, GENDER AND RELIGION, AND IS EXTREMELY EXCLUSIVE, WHICH HAS BEEN AND WILL BE THE MAJOR FACTOR THAT WOULD HURT THE PARTY BADLY. I RECALL THAT AT THE BEGINNING OF THIS ELECTION, MCCAIN AND HUCHABEE SPENT A GOOD CHUCK OF TIME, RESOURCES AND THEIR ENERGY TO ATTACK GOVERNOR ROMNEY’S RELIGION, AND TRIED TO DISQUALIFY HIS ELECABILITY ONLY BASE ON HIS PERSONAL FAITH. THE REPUBLICAN PARTY DOESN’T HAVE THEIR CORE VALUE ANY MORE, BUT FILL UP WITH THOSE RACISTS LIKE NEWT GINGRICH, RELIGION BIGOT LIKE HUCHABEE, AND CORRUPTIONS LIKE MCCAIN AND HIS BUDDIES.
3) JOHN MCCAIN WILL CHANGE HIS POSITION ON THE IRAQ WAR IN THE GENERAL ELECTION AND BECOME A FLIP-FLOP AGAIN. THERE ARE MORE THAN 70% OF THE GENERAL POPULATIONS IN THIS COUNTRY WHO WANT THE WAR IN IRAQ TO BE ENDED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. IN ORDER TO BE APPEALING TO THOSE PEOPLE IN GENERAL ELECTION, JOHN MCCAIN HAS TO CHANGE HIS POSITION AND MAKE PROMISE THAT HE WILL END THE WAR IN IRAQ, OTHERWISE, HE WOULD BE ABLE TO DEFEAT THE DEMOCRATS IN GENERAL ELECTION, AND GOVERNOR ROMNEY WILL NOT HAVE TO PLACE HIMSELF IN SUCH POSITION AS HE WILL NOT CONTINUE HIS CAMPAIGN.
4) I WILL NEVER MAKE ANY DONATION TO THE REPUBLICAN PARTY UNTIL 2012 IF ROMNEY COMES OUT FOR PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION, BECAUSE THE REPUBLICAN PARTY HAS BEEN CORRUPTED, EXCLUSIVE AND FILL UP WITH POLITICAL JUNKERS, CORRUPTIONS AND RELIGION BIGOTS.
5) I WILL ELIMINATE ALL THE CABLE NEWS CHANNELS FROM MY TV CHANNEL PACKAGE JUST FOR SAVING AN EXTRA $20.00 TO PAY FOR MY GAS AND OR UTILITY BILLS
6) I WILL FOLLOW ALL MY DEMOCRAT FRIENDS TO VOTE FOR OBAMA, AND MAKE THE REPUBLICAN PARTY FEEL ASHAMED FOR THEIR RELIGION BIGOT AND CORRUPTIONS. I WANT TO SEND A CLEAR MESSAGE TO THE REPUBLICAN PARTY IN WASHINGTON BY VOTING FOR OBAMA AS THE PRESIDENT OF UNITED STATES, AND TO MAKE MY POINT: DEMOCRAT PARTY CAN TOLERANT A BLACK MAN TO BE THE PRESIDENT OF UNITED STATES, BUT REPUBLICAN PARTY CAN’T TOLERANT A GREAT MAN LIKE ROMNEY TO HAVE A DIFFERENT FAITH OR RELIGION. IT HAS BEEN ASHAMED FOR THE REPUBLICAN PARTY, AND IT IS ASHAMED FOR FOX NEWS AS WELL.
VOTE FOR OBAMA, AND TEACH THE REPUBLICAN PARTY THE LESSON ON WHY THEY WILL LOSS FOR THE 2008 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION.
February 7th, 2008 at 5:14 pm
I also didn’t vote on the first poll. As I have stated many times - I will NOT vote McCain - nor will my wife. I will either write in Mitt’s name or if it is a close race - vote dem…
February 7th, 2008 at 5:15 pm
Bill and Hillary from 1992 until the present have divided this country until the liberals and conservatives hate each other’s guts.
McCain and Huckabee spread hate between the have’s and have-nots. They are both so full of hate that I can’t stand the idea of voting for either one of them.
Huckabee is as big a farce as Jimmy Swaggert, Jim Bakker or Pat Robertson.
February 7th, 2008 at 5:17 pm
I will not vote for a McCain/Huckabee ticket. I will vote for a McCain/Romney ticket.
I will withhold support for McCain until I know he is the nominee and who his VP choice is.
February 7th, 2008 at 5:20 pm
Romney may have stopped his campaign but he is actually still in the race. He still has his delegates and I’m sure he will receive a few more.
-
If you think about this, Mitt basically left it up to the voters to decide if they want a conservative or not and if they do then they better step up and fight for it. Kind of like voting “None of the Above” but with substance.
-
I already voted for Romney but I’m telling my friends to continue to vote for him if that is what they want.
-
In the general if it is McCain vs Dems, I’ll probably just write-in Romney.
February 7th, 2008 at 5:21 pm
I looked for a “none of the above” on the first question. could not pick one.
I will not vote McCain in the general. Listening to McCains cpac speech, just reminded me why I cant vote for him.
February 7th, 2008 at 5:22 pm
I absolutely could not vote in the first poll either. I just couldn’t do it. I laughed when I saw the comments of everyone else who felt the same way. Admin: How many people voted in the second and third poll, vs how many people voted in the first one? I’m just wondering how many people were like me and skipped the first poll.
In the general elections, I am writing in Romney, as is my husband and my mother, and quite possibly my sister and her husband, and my father too. I understand what Mitt was saying in his speech, but I simply cannot vote for a lying, unprincipled man like McCain.
God bless Mitt, Ann, the five boys, and everyone who has worked so hard to bring about Mitt’s campaign. I will be here again in 2012, no doubt about it.

Amen to Helen’s comments..go Mitt in 2012…I wish him good luck in 2012 in putting our country back together after it has been so terribly messed up these coming next 4 years. I am sorry the country will have to learn the hard way these next 4 years on what a great president with outstanding ideas and principles that they just lost out on….Good luck America!!
February 7th, 2008 at 5:24 pm
I guess this will perhaps be my last post on this board. I have greatly enjoyed reading the differing perspectives and commentary and joining you all in supporting a very fine man for a very important office. I am sad as you all are, but do have hope for the future. Often, it does take time for a good man to become known as such. 2012 is a day and time when I shall look forward to Ann Marie generating the website anew and each of us (and unknown others) contributing their special .02.
So long Mitt, it has been a wonderful experience and I know that you will succed in the future. I’ve never met you, but you were served well by your proxies here. God save the Republican Party.

I will NEVER NEVER EVER vote for McCain or Huckabee. They are vile and heartless. If McCain is half a man as Romney, he should step aside and let a good man govern. HE MAKES ME PUKE!!!!
February 7th, 2008 at 5:29 pm
I couldn’t bring myself to vote in the first poll either.
February 7th, 2008 at 5:33 pm
I also would like to see Mitt’s supporters continue the campaign. If your state hasn’t yet voted in the primaries, go ahead and vote for Mitt and encourage your friends to as well. This way he could still accumulate some delegates, without becoming a distraction for the Republican nominee (since there will be no need to actively campaign against someone with a suspended campaign). I really hope that he can find a way to stay in the public fight for conservative principles. We need him.
February 7th, 2008 at 5:35 pm
couldn’t vote in the first poll.was looking for slit my wrist but it wasn’t listed lol could never vote for mccain, hillary or barack.I’ll either write in mitt or vote third party this year
February 7th, 2008 at 5:51 pm
Skipped First poll
Romney write-in!!!
goal: 1 000 000 write-ins in November = a lesson/a clear message
This is #1 -please keep counting - I would love to see a #1000
This is a sad day! But I still have hope! There are some lightnings in the sky. Maybe one will descend joyfully upon the Bigmac!
February 7th, 2008 at 5:52 pm
For everyone who wouldn’t vote in the first poll: I purposely didn’t put a ‘None of the above option’ for fear that virtually everyone would pick it and we wouldn’t really get a good indicator of whom Romney supporters favor more. I try to leave out polls that are obvious answers for those being polled. Looks like I didn’t do a very good job on that last one.
February 7th, 2008 at 6:02 pm
You need to have one more choice, because there really is a several third parties out there on the ballots. It’s a third party for me! Go, Constitutional Party, Go! (I think)
February 7th, 2008 at 6:11 pm
Christine, if McCain is the half the man Mitt is, then I’d be happy to vote for him, but he’s nowhere near, and Huckabee’s even much worse.
Wow, out of those who voted in 2nd or third polls above, over 50 refused to vote for the first poll. I only did the fourth poll. Go, Romney 1012, Go!
February 7th, 2008 at 6:19 pm
I must object to referencing 2012, unless you imagine that McCain will not last more than one term. In other words, referencing 2012 implies that the Democrats will win in the fall, and I refuse to go forward on that premise. Bon, d’accord?
February 7th, 2008 at 6:37 pm
Whether McCain wins or not, he will be exceedingly old, and I doubt he would be capable of another 4 years. Otherwise I wouldn’t be so presumptuous.
February 7th, 2008 at 6:54 pm
Lousy poll, will never vote for either, possibly Obama, may not agree with the platform, but he will at least try to be fair, once he sits in the seat. I know politicians kiss and make up for the good of the party, but I will not.In this instance, McCain does not deserve my vote. He does not inspire, he is conniving, and he was too busy straddling the fence , in order to avoid voting on the stimulus package last night. Even the dems voted McCain is in it for himself, if he sits in that seat, he will compromise everything conservatives stand for.
Ppl delude themselves with Huckabee, he too, has no integrity, he does not want o push conservative issues in the next few races, he is just too caught in the papparazzi and attention. He will just milk it for all it’s worth. I will wait for inspiration, I will not settle.
February 7th, 2008 at 6:56 pm
You know age really has little to do with it, his overall deameanor, visage, says tired. We will all get old, but if our brains and wit are there, and we desire to represent the people, and just ourselves, I would give McCain a chance.
February 7th, 2008 at 6:57 pm
I could not vote for the first question….which tells me that I will write in Mitt Romney.
That may be the way to go…that would send a message
February 7th, 2008 at 7:47 pm
I would give McCain a chance to do something all right, but it wouldn’t be to be my President.
February 7th, 2008 at 7:52 pm
At one time I said I would never vote for McCain, mostly because of his lies concerning Gov Romney’s statement about a withdrawl timeline. What a liar, the Dems will rip him a new one in the general. But wait, what if he convinced GMR to be his VP, after all, McCain is really old!! Anyway, I think GMR showed that he was the better person by asking us to keep Hillary/Obama out of the white house, that’s what he will try to do.
February 7th, 2008 at 7:59 pm
Um…well….sorry to break this too you, McCain doesn’t have much hope for this election. And that would include if everyone on this blog changed their mind and decided to vote for him. The turnout for the Democrats in all the voting so far has been double ours. And with possibly our most objectionable candidate getting the nod, its not exactly going to do much to get out the vote come November. I too couldn’t vote on the first poll. It reminded me of the Voting episode of South Park. I won’t go into details…
February 7th, 2008 at 8:34 pm
You did a great job Mitt. Adimirable in every way. Thanks for a great campaign.
February 7th, 2008 at 8:51 pm
I join the numbers that couldn’t vote on the first vote! I AGREE with Sue B. If you haven’t voted yet, and you support Romney, PLEASE VOTE FOR HIM and see if he can pick up more delegates and have a voice at the convention!! His name will still be on the ballots and will count. It gave me great pleasure to cast my vote for Romney as it will you for standing up for the best candidate and good man.
February 7th, 2008 at 9:46 pm
I will vote for Governor Romney on Tuesday in Maryland. I encourage every one who has yet to vote to still vote for Mitt Romney. The Republican Party has yet to nominate the canidate. “Suspending” a campaign does not mean we have to suspend our vote!!!!
February 7th, 2008 at 10:03 pm
Four years ago, I told my RS sisters in class that our constitution was at risk. I also told them that day that Mitt Romney was challenging things in Mass., was against gay marriage and activist judges. I read them a letter to the editor that Mitt had written that uplifted and broke my heart at the same time. I told them then that we would be hearing a lot more from Mitt Romney. Most of these ladies had not even heard the name. But I kept following every word I could find on him. Then a year ago, I had the priviledge of attending the Frontiers of Freedom Institute - Fourth Annual Ronald Reagan Award Gala with Mitt as the guest of honor. Gosh, I thought he’s brilliant, if a little too thin. And Anne, a complete class act and even more beautiful in person. This event again comfirmed what I still believe in my heart - only Mitt Romney is able to see where we have been, is able to humbly accept where we are now and together can lead us into a prosperous and safe future in this country. God bless Mitt and his family. I will never vote for another this election and will write in Romney if necessary. I would ask all to keep the faith and vote not out of hate or despair but out of the pure knowledge that this is the only man that will do what he says he will. Never give in, never give up….
February 7th, 2008 at 10:52 pm
I believe it’s going to be more than an uphill climb for McCain. And as far as voting to keep the Repub party together, just wait a minute, what did they do for us. They had backroom meetings going on, they did everything they could to make sure McCain was their choice. Sorry, but I’m not a sheep and I don’t think like a sheep and I can’t get herded like sheep, so no, I will not vote for McCain for the “sake of the party”.
February 7th, 2008 at 10:55 pm
You definitely need to change that first poll. I can’t vote for either “man”. I momentarily thought I would have to support McCain after the C-Pac speech, but after thinking about it all day I realized Romney only spoke about McCain the way he did because he did not want to be the reason that the party doesn’t vote for him. But he was by no means urging conservatives to run to McCain. I think I am back to my earlier plan. Now that Romney is out, I will write in Romney unless the election is real close and Hillary is the dem. Then I will vote Hillary to keep McCain out. Although Obama seems like a nice guy, I could not vote for him. At least Hillary will likely be smart enough to not pull the plug on Iraq immediately. Meanwhile, Obama has plans to withdraw from Iraq on Day 1 and then sit down for tea and crumpets with our enemies on Day 2.
February 7th, 2008 at 10:55 pm
Oh and by the way, have any of you read the article from the President of Mexico. Seems now he doesn’t care who wins the election, he knows the illegals are going to become citizens now. Wow, what have you done America!!!
February 8th, 2008 at 12:07 am
I will not vote Republican for President this election cycle. I hope Mitt walks away and distances himself from these clowns. He cannot associate himself with these insiders or it will diminish his outsider appeal. 2012 will be a great year for him. He should strategize for then beginning now.
I cannot in good conscience vote for Obama or Hillary, even if the Communist Manifesto became our creed and they were the only ones on the ballot; they’ll never get my vote.
So when November comes around, I will be voting a third party candidate, unless Dr. Paul miraculously becomes the Republican nominee. I can’t see that one, so I’m not holding my breath.
February 8th, 2008 at 2:01 am
This is a SAD day for America! I’ve been so excited and inspired and involved in this election for the first time ever. Mitt is the only candidate who could have really lifted our country to great heights and honor, wealth & prosperity, credibility, safety etc. etc. What a loss is all I can say! Mitt gave me and my family & extended family and friends so much hope for the good which would have come to our country. I just hope Mitt Romney knows how much we appreciate him so much and his family for what they tried so hard to give to us. We will “write in Mitt” because he has our “hearts” and he’s the only one running we really believe in and feel would actually make good changes for this country. I guess I’ll turn off tv & talk radio as I’m so upset for their uncredible treatment to him I felt or “slow to help rally” for the radio. It’s sad for our nation and it’s so hard to accept the others running. I’ve watched every debate and learned about all these running (both sides). We just lost the best CEO and leader America could have ever had! Thanks for all you did Mitt and you really inspired alot of people to be involved this past year (without even asking) who grew to love you! and for what you stand for. You’re the one with integrity. I still am hoping for a “miracle”! I don’t want my hope and vision (you let us feel)for America to end. I can’t vote for anyone else in this race or I wouldn’t be true to who the BEST - most articulate, most positive, inspiring, knowlegable, vision for our future, solutions to problems (economy, healthcare, protection for our country here & abroad), warmth and goodness, and true leader for this country! My vote will still be for Mitt! Sincerely, Evelyn Cann
February 8th, 2008 at 3:40 am
As much as it bothers me that John McCain will be the nominee of the Republican party, there is something I cannot ignore. Shortly after 9/11 it became obvious that the Democrats can not be trusted to defend our country during these perilous times. Our enemies know that the Democrats are weak and are cowards. If a Democrat wins the White House in November they will attack us, and many more innocent Americans will die.
It is my opinion that in his speech Gov. Romney was telling us that during this time of war we have to put the safety and defense of America above our party and the conservative cause. One of the things that has so infuriated me about the Democrats for many years now is that they are so willing to put politics before the defense of our country. I can’t now lower myself to that level.
So come November, with a rotten feeling in my somach and feeling completely blackmailed, I’ll hold my nose and vote for McCain.
February 8th, 2008 at 4:47 pm
Mike,
McCain does not deserve your vote if you don’t feel comfortable. We can write in Governor Romney’s name on the ballot. If your state does not provide the paper ballot, then ask them to get some paper ballots ready for the people who want to write Romney’s name on the ballot. By the evening of November 4th, we will see that many states will have Romney’s name written on the ballots. We may need to start some grassroot work now.
