Mitt Wins Maine! - John McCain a Distant 2nd
Romney Hails ‘People’s Victory,’ Looks Past Super Tuesday
During a news conference later in Minneapolis, Romney celebrated his Maine victory, noting it came despite McCain’s backing by the state’s two U.S. senators, Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins.
“This is a people’s victory,” Romney said. “It is, in my view, also an indication that conservative change is something that the American people want to see. I think you’re going to see a growing movement across this country to get behind my candidacy and to propel this candidacy forward. I think it’s a harbinger of what you’re going to see on Tuesday.”

well i am glad to see that romney won maine now i know that romney has 4 votes possible 6 votes in his back pocket here in columbia county ,georgia . this is all of the family members and those close to the family . i am trying to get even more to votes . problem with georgia is you have to choose republican or democrat . so the independents can either vote republican or democratic but they can not choose anyone else . georgia voters look for the christian conservatives . it is good for mitt that he is the only conservative still running . however huckabee is stealing many of mitts votes . and basically could hand this election to mccain . doesnt huckabee understand he doesnt have the money and should just back mitt.

HEY NEVADA GIRL: Great work!
Readers: Please, please, please pass the word to get the vote out. Everybody needs to disregard the MSM and anything they say negative about GMR’s chances. We need to do everything we can to show McCain the door on Tuesday. He is so arrogant, he is telling everyone he has the nomination in the bag.

I am of the feeling, wrong or right, that Huckabee’s hatred of Romney is what is keeping him in the race. He knows he can’t win, but he hopes he can keep Romney, the Mormon, from the White House. Whatever his belief about Momons is, it fuels the hatred, and he fears the Mormon faith. .

Carolyn mentions the Mormon issue, but I’m getting a much different vibe. I think the other candidates (except Ron Paul) are envious about his acumen, intellect, and success. Have you listened to a McCain stump lately? He invokes class warfare themes better than Edwards, knocking Romney for his many and varied successes and playing the worker verses the Man memes. I’ll remind you that BOTH Romney and McCain were given a head start in life due to the their respective Father’s influence, but Romney took it from there and worked for himself and made himself his own success. McCain, on the other handed, nearly flunked out of every thing he tried, and continually relied on his father’s influence to advance his military career. Say what you will, but Romney is a self-made man, and isn’t that the American dream. I therefore consider McCain’s tactics to be tacitly unamerican.
So it comes to the typical political ploy of turning your opponent’s strength into a weakness, and McCain is shamelessly pressing this course. Huckabee has too with his “I’m more like the guy working next to you on the line than the manager that laid you off” spin. Don’t be fooled and fall for the feeble-minded “buy an election”, “spent 10 times more money”, or “not your average Joe” arguments . We don’t want the guy next to us on the line to be president, we want someone with the proven skills to do the job, and do it well.
So more than Mormonism (for Huckabee, anyway), in my view it’s a little hate (anger) mixed with a much larger portion of the deadly sins of pride and envy that fuel the angry, vitriolic, personal attacks against Romney, both by the candidates and their supporters. (Maybe a little greed and lust too, for added flavor).
Anybody else picking up on this?

Forzone - I agree. I know he is one of those Christians who hate mormons but I agree with your analysis - This is all about his personal ambition.

Heard ABC news on the radio on the way home from church. Seems like McCain has a huge lead with Huckabee far behind. Didn’t mention if there was anybody else in the race or not. Wonder if that’s a network tactic or just that newsperson. - P
