McCain’s Mom: Her son “Has no support among the Republican base”; suggests we all plug our noses
February 3rd, 2008 Posted in John McCain, Mitt Romney
Very interesting comment from McCain’s mom. She recognizes the base isn’t helping her son and says we’ll all have to plug our noses and accept our fate. Wonder why there’s no GOP support? Maybe the inconsistency of his positions. She complains that her son’s support of Pres. Bush over the last 8 years hasn’t won over the GOP. Think the Bush-hating democrats won’t have noticed? If this election is about change, McCain starts at a significant disadvantage. Sorry the clip makes you endure an ad from the source, CBS, who in turn got this from CSPAN.

Romney is actually leading an Insider Advantage poll of Georgia out today, only one point ahead of McCain, Huck taking third. He’s tied with McCain in the latest Rasmussan poll of California. We’re still in this!

The Romney Resistance
The Romney Resistance
Super Tuesday has now become one of our most important elections ever. This truly has become a battle for the soul of the Republican Party. And some need to be reminded that the soul of this Grand Old Party is conservative.
For many years conservatives remained quiet and dormant in the GOP, while the establishment, the big Government republicans dominated the party trying to offer the American public a lighter version of the liberal/progressive agenda of the democrats. One man came along and challenged those republicans. His struggle was not easy and lasted many years. He finally broke through and lifted conservativism to new heights. The Reagan Revolution began. Since then conservatives have been at the forefront, trying to bring real change by decreasing the size and influence of government. But we have been so busy fighting against the liberals on the Democratic Party that we completely forgot that we still had many left in our own party. They had gone quietly for these past 27 years, embracing Reagan’s legacy by word but not by deed. Now over the past few years they have once again shown their appetite for Big Government republicanism and with the Bush administration their appetite has only grown. They have seen that it is possible to pursue a republican agenda of big government as long as you are strong in national security issues. They have seen an opening and they are throwing everything they have to exploit this chance. They now argue with us conservatives that big government republicanism is better than big government liberalism. Their brand of big government is more responsible, it will not build us bridges to nowhere. It will just make sure that the people of America are well taken care of, because after all, we must all agree we have problems that we are not capable of taking care of for ourselves and we need politicians to solve them. We conservatives know of course that their argument is a false one. It is like offering you a low fat muffin instead of a regular one. Some people might fall for that one and really think the low fat one is better, but we know that the bottom line is that both of them are full of worthless calories we DO NOT NEED. We can do better and we must do better for the stakes are too high.
All of us who believe that the Reagan Revolution was one of the most important and positive changes in our nation in the last 30 years, must now unite to resist this hostile take over of our party by our moderate/liberal wing.
It is ironic that the last line of defense for conservatives has now become the former governor of Massachusetts. Whether because of his religion, or because he comes from our nation’s most liberal state, or because he changed his mind about abortion, or a combination of all 3, conservatives have been skeptical about him.
I am not one of the skeptics. I believe Mitt Romney is a conservative. I believe that he is and has always been socially conservative. He is a very religious man, man of faith, dedicated to his wife, his sons, his family, with no vices that we have ever heard of. Those are the traits of a social conservative. I think that when he ran for Governor he had specific economic issues he wanted to deal with and he hoped to stay away from the social issues. That’s why he promised to respect the pro-abortion laws of MA. He did not believe he could change them so he was not running to try to change them. He could not have foreseen what was coming. He was confronted by scientists that demeaning the meaning of life wanted to create and destroy embryos. This research could potentially bring a cure to his own wife who has Multiple Sclerosis, so I am sure it was a difficult issue for him to deal with. But if you truly believe that life begins at conception, how can you bring yourself to sign legislation that might lead to creation and destruction of thousands of human lives. He couldn’t and he didn’t and he took the side of life. At that point it would have been hypocritical for him to have continued calling himself pro-choice and so he corrected the record and “came out of the closet” as a true pro-lifer.
He likewise stated he would protect the rights of gays. He does not believe we should be unfair or discriminate against anybody. But he did not know that once governor the MA Supreme Court was going to try to redefine Marriage in behalf of Gays. Mitt Romney once again stepped up and defended traditional family like very few other long standing conservatives have done. Where was McCain during this controversy?
If you look at the history of our country, you come amazed that in our most difficult times, we have always had the right man at the right time step up to lead this nation. It falls upon Governor Romney to now step up and he has. He has clearly seen that the Reagan coalition is being threatened. Most political advisers would tell him after FL to take his losses, build up some political capital with the republican establishment supporting McCain and wait for his turn in 2012. If this was all just about politics that would probably be the best advice and he certainly would be the leading candidate for 2012. But he recognizes the attack that conservativism is under and he realizes the time to step up and save it is NOW. It is ironic that this man that denied Reagan once is being called now to become his most important apostle.
It is also time for all of us to step up and help win this nomination. If we believe in this Reagan coalition then time is running out to save it. The soldiers of the Reagan Revolution must now become part of the Romney Resistance. Let’s send a message this Tuesday that will not be soon forgotten. Let’s send the message that this Republican Party is the house that Reagan built and it will not be brought down. Let’s make sure that John McCain, his Big Government Republican followers and history never forget the name…… MITT ROMNEY.

“Never give in — never, never, never, never, in nothing great or small, large or petty, never give in except to convictions of honour and good sense. Never yield to force; never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy.”
– Winston Churchill, 29 October 1941
Romney has committed to going all the way! I am committed to Romney!

Let’s say we get Mitt Romney in the White House. It will be very important to continue this grassroots effort of supporting Mitt Romney because I have a feeling he will be met with a lot of resistance as he tries to bring about change. Something to think about but for now we all have a lot of work to do.

Thanks Miguel I am so glad to have people like you fighting for Mitt Romney.

Will someone tell Mrs McCain that her son has NOT supported Bush. Instead he has consistently promoted a liberal agenda.
For the record, I will not be holding my nose and voting for McCain.

People have talked about the coronation of Hillary. More and more I am realizing that McCain and his mother feel that there should rightly be a coronation of McCain. Her comments in this video are very telling:
“He worked like a DOG to get Bush re-elected … He’s backed Bush in everything except Rumsfeld … and I’ve never seen any public recognition for the work that he’s done for the Republican Party.” Let me translate: The Republican Party OWES IT to McCain to elect him, no matter what. He’s earned it because he’s worked so hard, and he just deserves it, doggone it.

Mrs. McCain seems like a very angry old woman. HUMMMM, maybe the acorn doesn’t fall from the tree.

For the record - my wife and I will not vote for McCain so there will be no reason to have to hold our noses.

This is from today in Illinois. Is there something to this story and do we need to get the word out before Tuesday? From First Read:
But Romney did take one pass on attacking McCain - when asked if he had any comments about charges reported by the New York Times of an improper relationship between the senator and lobbyist, Romney said only: “I have no information about that whatsoever and so don’t have any comment on it. Not familiar with the circumstances at all.”

Whoa! Negative Vibes!
I don’t think we should vote or even allow McCain be the President because of how his mother spoke… and especially treated Romney’s faith in the past which is totally unrelated to politics or America issues, you know.
Like mother- like son - indeed!
GO MITT!
