Illinois

February 3rd, 2008 Posted in Illinois

I saw Mitt today. He was awesome! He went to a local community college. I brought my 3 year old son. There was no were to stand. We were on the stairs at the entrance to the event, but the cops told us we were blocking traffic. There was standing room only, and I couldn’t find anywhere to stand were I could see him.

I have posted videos to YouTube before, but I wanted to capture the whole speech, and so I cranked down the quality on the camera. Well I guess I cranked it down too much, and it looks really bad, so I’m not going to even post it.

Here is a great write-up about it:

The former speaker of the house, no, not Newt, but Dennis Hastert (a big Romney supporter) gave a great into. Dan Rutherford also helped with the into. He is awesome and very high energy.

When I got back home, I turned on CNN, and saw the CNN girl talking about what Romney said (why didn’t they just show part of it with sound). They showed a continuous loop of about 5 seconds of the rally with the sound off, unfortunately. I wish they would have had the sound on. When I got home my wife asked Jamed how he liked it. He said it was very loud, and hurt his ears…

I brought my book and wanted to get it signed, but I didn’t want to wait through the crowds with the wife at home on bed-rest…

Well, that’s about it for now, I better get back to the super-bowl.

    Mike,

Dang it! I was at the rally looking for you… I was standing in front of all the cameras and the press. Fortunately, for us, we found a space behind a group of senior citizens who were sitting. The minute Mitt walked into the room, all of the senior citizens stood up. My 12-year old son and I grabbed one of the empty chairs to stand on and got a very good view of Mitt. Oh boy, was he electrifying! We were also with a family who went to the same ward with Mitt in Boston. At the time when they were in Boston, Mitt was their gospel doctrine teacher. After the rally ended, Mitt shook hands. We tried to work through the crowd to get to the front to no avail. We were disappointed but at least, we got to see him. He was very positive and warm with his message. And, yes, it was very loud!
