A VOTE FOR JOHN MCCAIN

February 3rd, 2008 Posted in 2008, California, Mitt Romney, Tsunami Tuesday

Flag Waving

I will never vote for John McCain for anything, ever. I have thought long and hard about the person I would vote for in November, if he were the Republican choice. Never could I vote for Hillary Clinton and never would I not vote (I have never missed voting in any election, no matter how insignificant). If it got to that point, I would write-in the name of Mitt Romney.

I DO NOT WANT TO GET TO THAT POINT. We do not have to get to that point.

TSUNAMI TUESDAY: Folks, it does not have to get to that point! Many years ago, a man of outstanding character not unlike Governor Romney, ran for office as our US congressman. In the Republican primary, he lost to a corrupt man by literally a handful of votes. Before the general election, we marshalled the forces, got the vote out and wrote his name in. He won by a huge margin, and became only the fourth congressman in American history to win a congressional district as a write in. President Reagan had a big celebration in the White House over it. The lesson? Had we made the same effort in the primary to support this man (Congressman Ron Packard) that we made in the write-in campaign, Mr. Packard would have won the Republican slot in a landslide. Many of us sat out the primary, choosing to do something else that day!

LET US NOT MAKE THAT MISTAKE ON TUESDAY. WE THE PEOPLE can show John McCain and Mike Huckabee the door on Tuesday if every one of us works tirelessly between now and up to 10 minutes before close of the polling booths on Tuesday.

I’m currently in Korea. I want to know what more I can do. I donated money this week. It’s the first time I’ve ever donated money to a political campaign (and I’m very proud of having donated to Mitt btw) and I tried to sign up to do some calls from home, but they said I couldn’t since I’m in Korea (I was going to use internet calling).

Anyways I post on blogs and stuff but I don’t feel like that’s helpful enough :(

    Hi Scott,

THANK YOU for your email message. You can influence many people. Please read these two posts and ask everyone you know to do the same:

Scott, I never send out emails asking people to forward them to others. So when I do this time, people will take notice and I believe they will act.

You can make a huge difference.

    Thanks for reaching out.

Favor to ask. Once you take this action, please go back into the comments where you left this one and tell readers what you did and give them suggestions.

    Thanks,

    Vic

I’ve been calling and emailing CNN, N Y Times, etc. about the lack of coverage of the Maine Caucus. THEY HAVE ALL BURIED OR FAILED TO COVER IT. Get on the phones and start emailing to get some coverage.

EVEN AFTER FLORIDA Mitt pounded McCain 2-1 in Maine! THAT IS BIG NEWS.

    Vic:

I emailed and faxed letters to James Dobson this AM - encouraging him to make a public endorsement for Gov Romney. I challenged him to stand by his beliefs and use theological differences to achieve more for the greater good than self - that is what God would want him to do in these troubling times.

I am incensed by the so called “conservative” leadership that they have not publicly supported Mitt Romney more - Fred Thompson, Bill Bennett, Rush( I know he says he has a policy of not endorsing in the primaries but EVERY policy is subject to review and revision and I feel he has really let us down by not encouraging his listeners to vote for Mitt and explain why they should. Newt Gingrich, Michael Reagan, William Buckley - the ‘father” of modern conservatism. James Dobson with his faith, family and values positions, heritage Foundation - they are ALL leaving Mitt out to fend for himself while all of the other self serving politicians endorse McCain to keep an outsider from discovering what REALLY goes on in Washington.

Our founding fathers knew the day would come when government got so big that it would no longer be the government “of the people, by the people and for the people”. That time has come.

When the McCain/Kennedy immigration bill came up - THE PEOPLE joined their voices and defeated it - they spoke loudly and clearly that they wanted the borders secured first.

In the 2006 election, Republicans spoke loudly and clearly that they were not happy with how the elected leadership had failed to keep spending down, solve the Social Security and Medicare problems, initiate resolutions to our health care problems - they voted them out.

Where are those unhappy voices now? - surely they do not think sending John McCain back for the Presidency( he will NEVER beat Hilary or Obama) will do anything to address or solve those problems - he has been there 25 years and so has Ron Paul - what have they done? Well, we know what John McCain has done to the Republican Party - what fools we are to support the voices and positions of those who endorse him now.

I agree with you, Vic, if McCain gets the nomination , I will write in Mitt Romney and I have spoken to more than one person who agrees.. If the worst happens - we need to quickly begin a national campaign to have all unhappy voters write him in on the November ballot.
We will need donations to repeatedly mail out printed material and purchase ads on radio and TV - telling the truth at last and stirring up the voters who truly care about taking back their country - NOW. We will need a web site that keeps everyone informed and what they can do to help. You know - WE CAN DO IT. You have been an excellent inspiration for us all - there are many, I am confident, who are thinkers and doers and will join the effort. You can count on me and I feel sure I can circle the wagons with many others.

Let us hope and pray that it does not come to that. I am giving concerned Americans the benefit of the doubt that they will realize Mitt Romney is the best candidate for President and that they and their families and friends will turn out in record numbers for Mitt on Tuesday - our chance to say to the MSM, John McCain, Mike Huckabee, Arnold S—-, Charlie Crist, Mel Martinez, Saxbee Chambliss, Olympia Snow, Susan Collins on and on and on - - YOU CANNOT TAKE OUR COUNTRY FROM US _ IT IS NOT YOURS TO TAKE. Our founding fathers risked their families and their lives to make sure our freedoms were protected. Many brave men and women sacrificed their lives to protect that freedom. Our troops are far from home fighting for our freedoms, we MUST FIGHT AT HOME FOR THEM so that when they return, what they have been fighting for will still be here.

Let’s go, concerned American voters, do you really care enough to fight for that which you believe - or will you grab a beer and let Mitt Romney and your country lose? THE CHOICE IS YOURS AND YOU HAVE NOONE BUT YOURSELF TO BLAME OR CONGRATULATE FOR THE OUTCOME.

    Renna,

Thank you! A quote I read late last night on one of the political sites said that it is unlikely that voters will go against McCain because the truly conservative don’t really know about all the things McCain has done in backstabbing and alienating true conservatives.

Well, we have the power to change that.

  6. Helen Says:

    Renna,

    “Olympia Snow, Susan Collins”
These two liberal Senators from Maine have been working hard on behalf of McCain in their State, but it didn’t work. Romney still got 52% of the votes.

  7. Jeff Says:

You say you will never vote for John McCain. I would tend to agree. The sad thing is that he seems to be the least of two evils when compared to the Democrat party presidential candidates. My fears are defined here: http://www.whyiwillnevervoteforjohnmccain.com
I am a true conservative and have been since I first voted in 1986 for Ronald Reagan. And, I do not trust John McCain as far as I can throw him. I believe he would raise spending, taxes and the like in order to reach across the isle. Why I will never vote for John McCain is plain to see.
