I was supporting Fred, I now support Mitt. John McCain gets my respect, but he is a liberal republican and will be a trainwreck for the party as it;’s candidate. What can I do to help?

  2. Steven Says:

What good is the Luntz group? It has shown for every debate that Romney has done well. But has that translated into support at the polls? Romney gives the right responses without somehow connecting enough to get strong support. I feel for the guy…

  3. Mike Laub Says:

Luntz said that Fred Thompson won the last debate…

  4. Mike Laub Says:

First of all Luntz does not always say that Romney won. They said he won before New Hampshire.

But I don’t understand. Do you think he won the debate?

You say he won, but he is unable to get support. These both can not be true at the same time… I think those who watch the majority of these debates tend to go Romney’s direction…

Besides, who do you think won the debate? Did Ron Paul “win the debate”? Did huckabee “win the debate”? Because John McCain sure did not win the debate.

  5. sam Says:

Luntz is a joke. Fox News is officailly no longer a part of my life. They have handed the nomination to John McCain.

  6. PJ Says:

Agreed on the fox news thing…not too balanced this time around.

  7. Linda Says:

A real debate would be two people, but McCain won’t do that. What a coward.

  8. braddahmike Says:

People, Romney has and does get lots of support…but he’s in the middle of the “imperfect storm” that has a Baptist Preacher that can mobilize the evangelical conservatives enough away from Romney through his use of identity politics mixed in with a bit of anti-Mormon underpinnings, and McCain who takes military, some senior citizens and most if not all of the moderate/indie vote-which pushed him over. It’s like Germany in WWII…you can’t fight a 2-front war! Add in the MSM and even some at Fox who feed into stereotypes with little depth and it’s only compounded.

Romney is connecting, but it’s not enough because you have two rivals that HATE him for his wealth, his religion, his resume, his family, etc. It is sad and depressing because the Republican party could have someone who is tough on terror, tough on illegal immigration, pro life, pro marriage, incredibly competent, a great family and someone-the only one- that made a living on making organizations better- gee we certainly don’t want that in Washington. You never know what can happen…and let’s let it play out.

Dear Friends, As a long serving GOP who has been elected to Santa Barbara County
GOP Central Committee–I publically endorsed Governor Romney tonight in a letter
to the County wide paper-SB NEWS PRESS.
If we offer someone who voted with kennedy for open borders, continued our fuel
dependence by opposing Anwar, opposed the tax cuts and limited free speech with
the Feinberg alliance–JUST WHAT THE HECK DO WE, AS A PARTY, THINK WE ARE DOING.
Not to mention the arrogance of that jowly, old, SNARKY DUDE.

    we will win–
I remember the Reagan nomination. Felt the same way. WE WILL PULL THIS OFF!

  10. John Says:

Romney has won most of the debates, yet he is just so so in national polls. What can we do to convince people that Romney is the Republicans best chance at the White House?

  11. Frozone Says:

Once again, great debate (for Romney), which he may have won going away, but nobody was watching. That’s the problem. Too many people voting blind without studying the issues (which is what really happened in Florida, people voting on a property tax measure that also happened to vote in a primary).

  12. Karen Says:

I’m in CA and unfortunately this debate started at 5 pm when lots of people weren’t home from work.

I thought Romney was terrific. He answered questions clearly and with detail. When McCain attacked him, he had very good, meaningful explanations. McCain came across mean and snide. I came away thinking - Romney HAS to win this thing.

Interesting to read the commentaries afterwards, not all agreed with me though quite a few did….Wish voters would watch the debates for themselves.

  13. Carla Says:

I couldn’t wait to watch the debate last night. I hold out so much hope for Romney. I was so upset when he didn’t win Florida and had heard that Gov. Crist had endorsed McCain. If it wasn’t for the endorsement I think Romeny would’ve won. I thought Romney won the debate last night and had a command of the debate. He always smiles and stays level headed and really speaks so well. It is hard for me to even look at McCain, let alone listen to him. I respect him as a war hero, but I don’t think he is a true conservative. He came across too snarly, mean and arrogant last night. Romney looked so Presidential. He has my vote and I really hope we Conservatives can wake up, listen to what’s going on, follow this election and rally behind Mitt Romney. He has to win this. We can pull it off for him. My family and I love you Mitt. Go Mitt!!!!
