I have to agree that Mitt is the one who should go. He and McCain may tie on dishonesty but Mitt has him beat with unethical campaign tactics. Without his money and media suport,he would have been long gone. I could not vote for Mitt even to save the world from"democrats". We need a candidate who will take our country in a starkly different direction. (McCain doesn't work either.)

I have to agree about McCain... if he gets the nomination i am voting democrat. McCain lied to the people of Florida to win that state. If I voted for him in the general election it would be like saying that what he did was right. I will do whatever I can to keep him from winning the general election.

The harsh reality is that Hillary may very well be LESS liberal than a John McCain in the white house. He would open the borders to Mexico and finally pass his amnesty plan.

Until then, lets back Mitt with all our hearts and give it a spirited fight. I definitely think Mitt can win and will back him with my support.

GO MITT!!!

The good news is that unlike any Democrat running McCain is pro-life, pro-traditional marriage, against torture, and for winning the War on Terror.' True enough. Also, having McCain as the nominee really ticks off all the people that unfairly trashed Huckabee (Rush, Mark Levin, et. al.). It may not be enough to ease my discomfort over McCain, but it nevertheless brings me great pleasure.

Win or Lose Go Huckabee!

Lisa,

I understand how it feels to be passionate about a candidate, but my reading of Huckabee is that he has made himself soley a niche candidate. His niche, of course, is the evangelical wing of the republican party - and he doesn't even have a majority of that wing. If we are going to come together under a conservative candidate, at this point, it's going to have to be Romney - he has a much broader base than Huckabee and is actually considered more conservative.

I hope that you will do some further research on Romney (this site has tons of good info), and decide to join us as Romney/conservative supporters. We could certainly use your passion and your voice among your friends.

Also....I agree with those of you who would not vote for McCain if he got the nomination. Along with not agreeing with McCain on key issues, his temper tells me he is a loose cannon, and that worries me.

If Hillary and McCain each get the nomination will there be a need for debates this fall? I mean we all know that once Hillary gets the nomination she will admit the surge is working and that we should not pull or troops out. So what will be left for her and McCain to discuss at a debate? The weather? Or are we goint to just listen to one or 2 hours of Sen MacCain saying "I agree with Sen. Clinton" and Hillary saying "I agree with Sen McCain."

Lisa,
I believe Huckabee is a nice man, but he is not competent to be the President of the United States. He is a typical Southern Democrats/the old blue dog, now they call themselves "REPUBLICAN". He is also an anti-business man like John McCain, and you can see this pattern very clear from last night debate. If either Huckabee or John MaCain gets nominated, it would destroy the Republican first before going to national election. The core value of the conservative is pro-business, pro-personal freedom, small government, lower taxes and strong national defense. Huckabee always talks those kitchen issues which demonstrate that he has no version where this country needs to be in 21st century. He is just a farmer raised from a chicken farm with no version for the future at all. He is such a dumb and still calculating that McCain would offer him a VP if he stays in this race. American needs a President like Romney who knows how capital works when the country is in the transformation into a global economy. Please ask Huckabee to quit and conservative will appreciate him forever.

Lisa,
Why don't you ask Gov. Huckabee to drop out and endorse Gov. Romney. Gov Romney has more delegates and is clearly the more favored of the two. Huckabee needs to ask his people to back Romney. But if Huckabee was to drop out, more then likely he would back McCain anyway because we have all heard that you can not vote for a Mormon. Pleasssssse!!!!!

Lisa,
You have to analyze that fact that Romney is the more favorable choice across a larger population segment than Huckabee. Logic, rather than emotion, dictates that Huckabee should join the Romney camp and unite the conservatives so we can both beat McCain.

Mr. Romney,
I am writing to strongly encourage you to drop out of the Presidential primary race and endorse Governor Mike Huckabee. At this point, realistically, you are very unlikely to garner more support and delegates than Senator McCain. Even if you were to do so, a huge percentage of American voters will refuse to vote for you (as, indeed, they will if John McCain wins) because they perceive you to be “not conservative enough”, and the Democratic candidate (whoever it may be) will end up winning the election. However, if you back Mr. Huckabee, and he wins the primary, your influence with more moderate citizens his with conservative and Christian voters, would be a huge force to be reckoned with, especially since it is this conservative block that is largely responsible for President Bush’s reelection in 2004. The liberal media understands this, and, therefore, how dangerous Mike Huckabee’s candidacy would be for the Democratic Party, which is why their tactics during the past few weeks have been to smear, distort, downplay or completely ignore him. Please take this into consideration and do not allow this to happen to our country. We cannot afford to lose the White House this year. Do the right thing for America.

Bill O'Reilly also thinks that everyone will rally around McCain if he is the Republican nominee. I have heard too many people say they cannot under any circumstances bring themselves to vote for McCain. This idea that McCain can win against the democrats is flawed if a large number of Republicans can't stomach voting for him. I am currently listening to the Democratic Debate. I don't agree with his stands, but I would rather give my vote to Obama who appears to at least have a reasoned approach to things. Rick Santorum said tonight that McCain is unpredictable. That is what I have found. There is no way to even guess how he will stand on any given issue. There are many voices out now crying the alarm--good for Michael Reagan--we need to get louder NOW--we don't have much time.

Yes, caught O'Reilly. Pure BS. Monica Crowley was a disappointment as well.

As always, Rick Santorum was outstanding!

I've stopped watching cable news. The bias is sickening and it's not good for my emotional, mental or physical health.

The only good thing about Romney not being our nominee is that I will lose heart for politics and finally get some work done.

My feeling is that if the GOP doesn't nominate Romney, then they will get what they deserve -- and don't blame me -- I VOTED FOR ROMNEY!!

Did anyone catch the O'Reilly Factor today? Bill is off his rocker. He said McCain has toughened his immigration stance, he thinks McCain will lean further right in the general (than he did in the Republican primary?!) and the thinks McCain will pick Romney as his running mate. I wonder if Bill is feeling ok. That was a whole lot of nonsense.

Great article!! Matches a lot of my sentiments very well.

(But correct the spelling of "Regan" to "Reagan," the spelling of this name is particulary important:)

We love you Mitt. We are behind you to the end. And if by some odd chance you are NOT the nominee on the “Republican” ballot, I will still write your name in as a “write-in” in November. God Speed.

I thought that the speech given by President Thomas Whitmore (Bill Pullman) in the movie Independence Day would be appropriate. I’ve made some changes to fit us Romney supporters:

Good evening. In less than a week, we along with others Super Tuesday voters will join together. And we will be voting in the most important election in the history of mankind. “Mankind.” That word should have new meaning for all of us on February fifth. Republicans we can’t be consumed by our petty differences anymore. We will be united in our common interests. Perhaps it's fate that in less than a week it will be February fifth, and you will once again be fighting for our freedom... Not from tyranny, oppression, or persecution... but from John McCain. We are fighting for our right to live. To exist. And should we win that day, the Fifth of February will no longer be known as Super Tuesday, but as the day the Republican Party declared in one voice: "We will not go quietly into the night!" We will not vanish without a fight! We're going to live on! We're going to survive! Today we celebrate President Mitt Romney!
