The Anti-Romney Vote!

Flag Waving

This rather sarcastic and ironic commentary comes to us from Leland Bruce of Orange County, California

Okay, I give up. Is anybody watching what is happening to the GOP? The media is well aware of the situation but is constrained to reveal the truth otherwise their implicit endorsement rises to the surface and thus it becomes imperative that the main stream media stifle in the most proper manner any momentum for the best qualified presidential candidate, Mitt Romney.

Sure, they do it on the Democratic side and even the conservative voices raise the banner, “Isn’t this just an anti-Hillary vote?” thus adding credibility to her candidacy, raising eyebrows that indeed her campaign is larger, deeper, founded, funded and more sustainable than any other candidacy under scrutiny. But please, do not allow any of the media outlets to breathe the same thing about Mitt Romney!

By insinuating that Mitt’s second place finish in IA to our media darling Mike Huckabee or his second place finish to the amnesty advisor McCain in NH is nothing more than an anti-Romney vote by the GOP and Independents would catapult him as the frontrunner and turn every GOP head that indeed the smartest, most articulate, most visionary, most principled candidate is actually the guy to beat! Heaven help us! We must do all that we can to submerge such a thought! But we are doing it for Hillary right? Of course we are! Her second place finishes are a result of the anti-Hillary victim vote, mere stepping stones and time of reflection as we persuade the public to vote for our candidates. So what should we call Romney’s 2nd place finishes so as to not cast him in the same light as our victim Hillary? Hey, let’s call it “devastating”, “unsustainable” and that his campaign is in “dire straits”! Can we do that? Of course we can, we’re on the home team and we’re playing at home!

We can’t have a ground swell of support for the candidate that is most qualified and most needed by a recession weary economy, out of control trade deficits, unstable valuation of the dollar, and poor public opinion in foreign countries. Hey, we can’t get behind this guy because he could beat our candidate if the people of the United States actually voted based upon their own opinion rather than the slurp sloshing from us. No, we can’t have that! We won’t have that! Hey, we couldn’t impeach Bush, what’s wrong with us? [click Continue Reading just below for Leland's entire commentary]

Okay, if Romney is that good we really do need to talk behind the scenes and get our strategy right so our tightly controlled pundits and even John Q. Public won’t dare give him a chance. Come on, let’s put together our strategy! Let’s hyper-inflate the religion issue! What about our other favorite Mormon, Harry Reid? We didn’t make the Mormon issue an issue remember? Yeah, I know Harry Reid is a Mormon, but he’s on our team so it’s OK. He’ll even speak evil against this candidate even though they go to the same church! Oh, the beauty of politics! Oh wait, what about JFK? What about Al Sharpton, Jessie Jackson, or even our beloved Mike Huckbaee for goodness sake? Don’t worry it’s not a slippery slope my friend, they wear our jerseys, remember? Hey, stop it with the My friend comment…reminds me of McCant… Yes he can!

Buck up team! We are headed in the right direction (not literally “right” if you know what I mean but maybe “proper” is a better word…) Didn’t you see Huckabee on The Tonight Show for goodness sake? Come on; let’s promote our bass playing liberal preacher into “our” candidate. It’s our only chance in Iowa! Hey, it worked for Bill right? Where’s his sax? Hey, if we push this hard enough, we can outspend Romney without spending a dime! Sush… Don’t call Huckabee’s win the anti-Romney vote, otherwise he becomes viable and the precious victim. That’s Hillary’s role remember? Yea, but Huckabee isn’t going to win another state! What do we do?

Hey, keep promoting the Huckster, keep up the free press, get the evangelicals behind us and maybe he’ll get the idea that he is electable….What? He wants to team with McCain in NH to defeat Romney! Hey, don’t call it the anti-Romney vote! It’s working…..let’s convince everyone that Huck and McCain actually dislike Romney….

What about those granite heads in NH? Well let’s see, they voted for McCain before right? Let’s get behind the author of McCain-Feingold and prop him up! What about Huck? Don’t worry about him for goodness sake! Have you already forgotten the goal in this whole thing? It’s about beating Romney with whomever we can do it with! Hey, we’ll even push Ron Paul if it takes votes from Romney! Wow, look at the polls! We’re doing it! The straight talk express is gaining momentum (sush…don’t call it the anti-Romney vote!). Hey, how’s Hillary doing? It doesn’t matter…we’ll bus in votes if we have to…it’s not about our candidate remember. Hey somebody put a muzzle on Kucinich! He could mess this whole thing up for us.

Hey, we pushed the amnesty advisor to a win in NH! Ou-oh…what do we do about Michigan? Romney is leading in the polls! How much time do we have? Can we get Huck on David Letterman? Hey, what’s Thompson doing bringing to light Huckabee’s faults? Doesn’t he know what’s going here? “Hey Fred, Mitt is the target you idiot!”. Let’s keep pushing those Zogby polls…even though they are wrong… At least they push our candidate McCain.

Oh my gosh, Romney keeps moving up in Michigan! Okay, get McCain news all over the Net and let these poor Flint failures know that even though he is 71 and has no interest in assisting GM, that he really does understand business economics better than the Harvard educated JD/MBA, venture capitalist. Hey, where did McCain graduate in his class? Shut up you fool, we’ve buried that information! Get on the straight talk express and don’t get off ‘til Johnny comes marching home.” Please, don’t call it the anti-Romney vote! Hey, what do the poll numbers show? McClatchy and MSNBC are showing Romney ahead by 8% points! What? Hasn’t McClatchy seen their stock price go from $41 a share to $11 a share? Don’t they know they should be on our team? Yeah, but they say the facts are more important than our objectives. After all, they have been around since the California Gold Rush! Somebody tell those Knight Ridder conservatives that they are playing with our plan! Don’t they know the strategy? Aren’t they one of us? Hey, we are doing all we can but even MSNBC is calling it in Romney’s favor…..get Keith Olberman on the blower, he can re-direct the numbers in McCain’s favor right? By the way, let’s get the word out that if Romney loses in Michigan, he’s done! Ok, but we played that story after Iowa, oops and also after New Hampshire but the guy has more GOP votes than anyone! If I hear that one more time heads are going to roll! You’re fired!

Yes, it’s true, we confess… We in the main stream media cannot allow Mitt Romney, a Mormon nonetheless, to be an occupant of the Lincoln bedroom. And aren’t we doing a fine job? We have convinced a majority of the populace that a freshman senator, a formerly despised first lady, a liberal tax-raising bass player, an elderly amnesty patriot, and even a liberal former mayor (hey, we gotta get him back in the news!) are all better candidates than the over-qualified and presidential Mitt Romney. And we have also succeeded in convincing the public that Huckabee’s evangelical and feeble win in Iowa and McCain’s 5 point win in New Hampshire are really waves of momentum as these two fine candidates seek the Presidency. But we will never say that Huckabee and McCain are nothing more than anti-Romney votes.. Yes, it’s true…but we will never say such a thing!

Ok, I get it… Enough of the satire and cynicism right? I’ll go so far as to quote James E. Faust when he said: “Let us not become so intense in our zeal to do good by winning arguments or by our pure intention in disputing doctrine that we go beyond good sense and manners, thereby promoting contention or say and do imprudent things, invoke cynicism or ridicule with flippancy. In this manner, our good motives become so misdirected that we lose friends and even more serious, we come under the influence of the devil. It was once said: “Your criticism may be worse than the conduct you are trying to correct”. Thank you James Faust for putting things into perspective for us as we can all certainly get carried away with the vitriol and vehemence displayed by the main stream media toward the most qualified presidential candidate that this nation has seen since 1976.

Nonetheless, if my comments are destined to end on a spiritual note, let’s think about the law of witnesses and how it applies to this election. I know, don’t mix church and state but it does have significant applicability as it relates to the main stream media and their lack of objectivity, accountability, promotion of their agenda and candidates, and their subversive tactics to repel candidates that do not meet their perceived populace but in reality liberal view. Remember what Paul said? “In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established”. Witnesses authenticate each other and establish truth. Orson Pratt once said: “A person can not be a witness to that which he merely believes”. It is my personal opinion that the main stream media and their adamant, fierce and constant opposition to Mitt Romney’s candidacy is a witness of the truth. As Faust also once said: “Satan’s ever-expanding efforts are some proof of the truthfulness of this work”. He also commented: “In the future, the opposition will be both more subtle and more open. It may be masked in greater sophistication and cunning, but it will also be more blatant”. Though I am certainly not calling the main stream media Satan, though they do meet several of the definitions found in the scriptures: “the father of all lies, to deceive and to blind men and lead them captive at his will” I do believe that their continued opposition of Mitt Romney is a witness of truth. They certainly do not understand it, but for us church going folk that have seen the opposition throughout history stand in denial of the truth, this constant and ferocious opposing position is absolutely a witness of truth. Yep, Mitt Romney must be the right candidate. The Law of Witnesses continues to be fulfilled.

As CS Lewis once said: “You find out the strength of the wind by trying to walk against it, not by lying down”. Let’s add strength to the wind behind Mitt because the media is not lying down!

ummm… The tone is so dark, hateful, mean spirited, negative and sarcastic that I couldn’t get past the break before giving up on trying to interpret it. So I don’t know whether this man is against, or strangely for Romney. I assume he’s for, since you put this up here, Vic. But honestly, and nothing against you Vic, but I’m not sure we should have such a cloudy and dark statement on a blog that is supposed to be representing Mitt Romney, the finest candidate for President I have ever known.

But maybe it is just me, I am under a lot of stress and am going through some trials where my brain has not been functioning correctly for the past few days.

But on the chance it isn’t just me, perhaps it’s just something to think about…

I have to agree with Joey… This is kind of dark and twisted. I think the MSM doesn’t want Romney to succeed, but I’m still not so sure that it’s as intense as the author purports. As conservatives let’s be careful not to be the kind of nutjobs that the far left has become. They are so far detached from American society that they think EVERYTHING is a conspiracy against Democrats, planned by Bush so that the poor will become poorer and oil companies will become richer. In reality, no such conspiracies are as intense (or even exist) as their proponents would have us believe.

Gotta win becase we’re smart! Gotta win because we’re moral. Gotta win because we have hair.

DOn’t forget that Al Gore was smart, a veteran of Viet Nam, Harvard educated. Went to divinity school. Has a deep and enduring faith. Despite all the snickers, it really was Senator Al Gore that created a bill adopted as the High Performance Computing and Communication Act of 1991. The innovative thinking that created that legislation funded the National Research & Engineering Network (the information superhighway) and funded development of Mosaic, the first web browser (and the core code for Netscape, Firefox and IE). Yes, Al Gore DID invent the internet.

And he’s sucessful. He’s on the board of Apple Computer, and advisor to Google, creator of a children’s TV network for schools (Current), and brought good business practice to Government in the 90s.

But Gore didn’t win the Presidency. He was stiff and boring. He was above us. For GMR to win, he needs to be an idea evangelist, something to get the general purpose voters excited about.
