Calhoun: You make a great point about DeMintt; one I have seen made a few times actually and you are probably right.

Hugh Hewitt has said a few times he thinks the best VP would be either the mayor of Minneapolis or the governor of Minnesota. I don’t recall which or why.

I disagree about FDT. I think he is a great conservative, but I think GMR needs somebody who will work at least as hard as he will on the campaign trail. And I don’t think FDT really wants the office; he really did not want the POTUS job so it is hard to imagine he would want the #2 slot in the saddle.

I have great respect for South Carolina’s junior senator, Jim DeMint, but our country really needs him in the Senate. DeMint is an outspoken conservative leader on a number of important legislative issues, such as earmark reform, and a future President Romney would need him as a strong ally on Capitol Hill.

I think these two possibilities are more likely:
(1) South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford
(2) Sen. Fred Thompson

Greg, I’m not sure my ideas on this are as well informed as others. Here are my two choices in this order:

1) Colin Powell

2) Senator Jim DeMintt, South Carolina

I would have to do the research, but looking over the last 70 years I believe, there has only been one presidency that was elected in its first term that did not have either the POTUS or VP from a southern state.

There is no question that David was and still is instrumental in the effort to elect Gov. Romney.

Incidentally, for those who don’t know, Nancy is writing a book with Ann Romney. Please don’t ask for details as I don’t have any. You can probably find details by searching their blog site.

It’s just that when I see Nancy French’s name, I also think of her husband. And I have been following their blog for about a year by now. David played a big role in getting most of their contributors to look closely at Mitt and he helped them see why Mitt is the man for this job. I also believe David was one who convinced Nancy they should start their site about Evangelicals for Mitt almost two years ago. David (in additional to Hugh Hewitt in his book, “Mormon in White House”) was one who foresaw the Mormonism factor and wanted to show other evangelicals why it is ok to vote for someone whose doctrines they unequivocally disagree with.

I know you, Vic, have a lot of respect for them all. It just do not seem right to me to see you mentioned Nancy and Charles without saying anything about David as well. Again, thank you for pointing out their site, because it, indeed, is a fantastic site!

SGS: I’m not sure what you meant by “no disrespect”. In the post, I did mention that Nancy is the co-founder. David is in fact the other co-founder, that is correct. The only reason I omitted mention of him is because it was 1am and I did not have time to explain what you did so well.

Charles told me at the speech last month that David is serving about 12 miles from the Iranian border. At the speech, I told Nancy that many people, family included, keep David and her family in our family prayers. Also, David has a prominent part in the new ARTICLE VI movie. Hugh Hewitt told me that David’s part was the most significant in his opinion.

Vic, I know you meant no disrespect, but I want to bring into the spotlight the founder of this Evangelical for Mitt site. David, a husband of Nancy French, is a constititonal lawyer who has worked for various non-profit Christian law firm, like FIRE (Foundation for Individual Rights in Education). He also has contributed a few articls to NRO. He is a profound Christian who loves his family, his people and this country deeply. Soon after 9/11 stuck, he wanted to enlist into military to protect our country, but he was beyond th age cut off. It was not long afterward when the Congress raised the age level, and David was one of the first to enlist. Remember that he has a wonderful wife, and (I think) 3 young children. Currently, he is serving as an JAG for a ballition in Iraq.

I may get some facts about him wrong, since I do not know him personally. I know of amazed influence he is. I want to thank David for doing what is best for this country, including seeing that we know that Mitt Romney is the best man for this job. I also want to thank Nancy and her family for the sacrifice they are making for those least among us. David and Nancy, may God be with you all!
