Florida Trending Romney!
Polls are very interesting, but it’s hard to get an idea of what is going on within certain polls. I much prefer to look at the TRENDLINE WITHIN certain polls. This way, its very easy to see who has the MOMENTUM within a poll and who is losing steam. I do this, because, each polling organization has a certain set of parameters and it does not change poll to poll.
With that said, let’s take a look at 3 big polling outfits who have been polling FL since Jan 1.
Insider Advantage (5 polls taken from 1/1 - 1/25)
: Romney -6, Even, Romney +6, Romney -1, Even.
Survey USA (4 polls taken from 1/1 - 1/25)
: Romney -10, Romney -7, Romney -6, Romney -2
Rasmussen (3 polls from 1/1 - 1/25)
: Romney -1, Romney +5, Romney +4.
So, what it looks like to me is Romney was behind in early Jan..however as of late he has made a surge and is leading in 2 out of 3 polls and DEFINITLY has the momentum to overtake McCain.
Couple this with the intrade #’s showing Romney at 60% and McCain at 35% to win FL…and I think we have the recipe for a Romney Florida Win.
I think the McCain camp knows this also, as they must have gotten internals that show Mitt is cleaning the floor with them with the economic issue. This is why McCain is attacking Romney today about the Economy.
Bad bad move on team McCain’s part, as this is Romney’s strong suit.
It feels much much like Michigan did 4 days before their primary
Romney 27%
McCain 23%
Onward and upward. Godspeed, Mr Romney.

Does anyone know what Rush had to say about the debates today? I missed the show!

Do we know if some of these polls include independents and democrats, or only republicans?
It would be so wonderful if Romney won Florida. But the msm is out to stop him. It’s really a war out there.

I’ve been thinking about this all day. Why would anyone be stupid enough to vote for someone you know is going to sell you out if he got elected and that is the case with McCain. What good would it do to win with a guy that would stab you in the back on Anwar, torture, immigration global warminf etc? i don’t get the Mccain support at all.

Bad move on McCain’s part? What else can he do? If the primary voters are worried about the economy, then he’d better talk about it. No, this is the great smile of good fortune shining on Romney.

Great post Chris.
Anybody who saw that exchange between Ron Paul and McCain last night would have to conclude it would be A HUGE MISTAKE to give any credit to McCain when discussing anything economic or financial. He literally has no clue.

No one decided to attack Mitt on the economy last night…mainly because they were afraid to get push back from Mitt and fail to have an answer. Oh..that and they don’t really know anything about economics.

Romney has a couple of seasoned attack dogs on his staff.
It is time for him to lose the hounds!!

here’s what someone from Florida said today…
“I know he is no Ronald Reagan but he does have it. I enjoy listening to him. He makes alot of sense on almost every single issue. What he brings to us is what the new polls are saying, people are worried so much about the economy, this is his strong suit, he is the best on either side with money and economics.
My BIL lives in Florida and says he is drawing huge crows everywhere he goes and by talking to many people he thought Broward County will go for McCain but he said something changed since the debate, everyone around him is now for Romney.
I had one problem with him and wondered what his stance was on terrorist, the middle east and building a better, bigger military and he answered that for me.
I also am impressed that he will be making decision based on his knowledge and has said that he gathers the best minds on either side together to work out what is the best thing to do. This is what we need!
Undecided but leaning towards Romney.”

Mitt is actually leading the Insider Advantage polls. For some strange reason they included Democrats and Indys (who can’t vote in FL’s closed primary) in that poll. If you look at the cross tabs, Mitt is leading GOP voters 30 to 23 over McCain with Rudy at 19%.

This Youtube video from CNN reminding us of the “facts’ of the McCain amnesty bill must be circulated throughout Florida and the nation. This is not ‘negative’ adverstising, simply that facts as seen by CNN. Everyone should email this to every Republican they know in the State of Florida and elsewhere.

Romney started out with basically no name ID and has had to earn every vote he has gotten so far. McCain probably has a name ID in the 90’s and is a well known war hero. he’s gotten nothing but fluff coverage from the media and dem talking heads. The MSM on the other hand has tried to paint Mitt as a flip flopping Mormon so a lot of people had a bad impression of him. The thing is when people see him in person he wins them over. He’s actually pretty funny in his own way. He wouldn’t be spending millions of his own dollars if he didn’t believe in himself. Now you have Clinton saying he wouldn’t mind McCain being Hillary’s opponent. No I’m sure he wouldn’t, Mitt’s the one they don’t want.

Jane , Rush did the “this is not an endorsement ” phrase, then when on to shower Mitt with complements about the debate last night!! Sean Hannity was also a-glow over Mitt’s performance!! This is awesome not only are the liberals having to admit he kicked butt last night, the people we actually respect are giving Mitt major points for last night as well. I am looking at a Big Bounce into Super Tuesday anybody else feeling it???
