Hi Everyone!

I wanted to say a quick hello and introduce myself as a rookie blogger here at Elect Romney in 2008!  I’m pleased and excited to jump in here and do my part to help Mitt’s run for the White House!

A bit about me:  I’m 37, mother of 4 and wife of 1, living in snowy, cold, rural, beautiful, northern Nevada.  I’m originally from Canada, have lived in the U.S. for several years, and just recently got my U.S. citizenship.  What a great and humbling experience!  I really feel at home in this incredible country!  There is a spirit and a strength and a power here - a patriotism that is unlike any other.

I became a Romniac, Mitthead, Mitten about a year ago after Mitt made his announcement.  I started coming to this blog shortly after and quickly became an addict, as I know many of you have (you might have seen me comment as Nevadagirl).  The founder, the bloggers and, based on their comments, the readers, are all very impressive and articulate - it’s great to be part of this!

During the Nevada caucus, I had the chance to stand up and speak for 2 minutes on why I support Mitt.  It felt great to vocalize to others the reasons why I feel Mitt is our best choice and hope.  My challenge to you guys is to be prepared to do the same.  With the upcoming importance of Feb. 5, many of you will have the opportunity to share with others why you support Mitt in your own state and in your own circle of influence.  Here’s a short version of what I said:

I support Mitt because I’m looking for 2 things in a President.  One - a conservative record and platform, someone that supports the 3 legs of the Reagan coalition - strong military, strong economy, and strong families.  Two - someone who has a resume that shows he actually has the executive skills and personality to lead and accomplish his Presidential To-Do list.  Mitt’s record in Massachusettes shows an ability to fight for conservative principles and policies in a highly liberal environment.  He is one of only 2 true conservatives running.  His experiences in the private sector and as CEO of the SLC Olympics unequivocally show that this is a man who understands what it takes to solve extremely difficult problems.  No one else running comes close to his track record of success in this area.

Obviously the important thing is to say what works for you.  Let us know about any great experiences you have had sharing your support of Mitt!

Here is a pic of Mitt at a rally in Orlando today.

    Nice elevator pitch. Welcome!

  2. Denny Says:

    Welcome aboard, Stephanie Davis.

America needs people just like you, who haven’t taken American freedoms and it’s greatness for granted, since you are still new at experiencing the essence of it. Once you cross that line and pledge to support our constitution, then you are family.

You will be a good assett to Governor Mitt Romney’s efforts at capturing the GOP nomination.

    Go Mitt Go!

    Welcome Stephanie,

I can tell by your writing that you will do great on here. How about posting this I found on the Glenn Beck site concerning the media and Mitt? http://www.glennbeck.com/content/articles/article/198/4696/

  4. John Cronin Says:

    Stephanie,

Welcome to America and welcome to the blog.

  5. For Mitt Says:

Thanks, Sadie for Glenn Beck’s link. He was right on re: media bias. Nevadagirl, welcome to our blog!

  6. For Mitt Says:

By the way, Nevadagirl, I’d like to hear from you your perspective as a Canadian regarding health care. When I was living in Seattle, many Canadians crossed the border to Seattle to receive medical services because there was a long waiting list to receive medical care in Canada. The Democrats want to create an universal health care. In other words, socialized health care. Mitt wants to let the free markets compete. What is your take?

  7. Tray Says:

I have enjoyed your comments. Welcome.

The media is not doing their job of reporting the news. They are in the business of making news. As Romney supporters, we need to demand fairness for Mitt.

  8. Flint Says:

O.k. - that’s just weird. My wife’s name is Stephanie - and our last name is Davis.

I did a double take when I saw your name on the blog - I thought “since when did my wife start contributing to blogs?”

It only made it weirder when it said 4 kids - since we have four ourself.

I’m sure my wife will get a kick out of this!

    Welcome!

    Nevadagirl,
I am here in Louisiana, our caucus is today, and after I heard Mitt speak the “freedom of relgion “speech, I went solid for him ! But the joke is on me, I am a democrat, and cannot vote in our caucus today(crying inconsolably)! I will do my best to buoy up my fellow mittens/mitts. Oh yes, here is another african-american for Mitt! The best hope for this country!

  10. Vic Lundquist Says:

    WELCOME NEVADAGIRL!

You wondered why GMR won by such a huge margin in Nevada! It was your two-minute speech on caucus day.

    Welcome to the blog!

  11. Stephanie Davis Says:

Wow - you guys have made me feel so welcome - thank-you so much! I’m always amazed and frustrated when I hear the pundits and even conservative talk-show hosts say no one is excited about any of the Republican candidates. Hello!!! Get to know some Mitt people and maybe you’ll change your mind.
Anyway, let me respond to your comments. David, John, Tray and Vic, thanks for your kind welcome. Denny, Canadians are pretty subdued in their patriotism, so my strong feelings of patriotism for this country took me (and my husband) by surprise. I just feel strongly that this country has a unique history and destiny, and I’m excited to be part of it! Sadie - thanks, and will do!
For Mitt - a couple of facts that aren’t brought up when people compare the heath care systems here and in Canada. First of all, Canada has a tiny population, compared to the U.S. - somewhere similar to California’s. Trying to implement a universal health care program here is going to be a lot more difficult than it was in Canada. Second, the “universal” system we hear about down here is actually very regional (managed by the provinces) up there. Heath care in Alberta is very, very different than what you get in British Columbia or Ontario. So again, trying to implement a similar system down here, with 4 times as many regions or states, is probably not going to work as well. Other problems I saw - “brain drain” - doctors and other specialists leaving Canada to make more money in the U.S. The wait times are no myth either - for specialized care and tests in particular. You can get into a regular doctor by going to a walk-in clinic at almost any time of day, however, in order to see a “specialist” (anyone who isn’t a regular Dr.) there really are very long wait times. We have a friend who had stage 3 cancer in her lung (a growth the size of a grapefruit), had to wait 6 months for surgery, and now 3-4 years later her cancer has returned and she is not expected to live. I definitely support Mitt’s plan. For a country this size, I think it is the only rational way to go.
Flint, I guess until we get my picture posted, you really DON’T know that I’m not the same Stephanie Davis ;-p
Denise, hang in there, girl - you’ll get your chance to vote for Mitt! Who is in the lead in Louisiana? Does Mitt have a chance at a medal?

  12. Nate Gunderson Says:

Ahhh, the Nevadagirl is revealed. Ann Marie sent me your photo and I’ll get it up on the blog as soon as I get home where I have ftp access. Welcome to the crew.

  13. Layne Pitcher Says:

So glad to see that you are getting the opportunity to be even more active in your support for Mitt Romney. I have seen your posts on many of the same message boards I have posted and have always respected your articulate arguments and endorsements for Romney.

Will be looking forward to reading more of that here.

  14. Tray Says:

Welcome Denise! I am excited to hear you are supporting Mitt. Will you be able to support him on Feb. 5th?
