Slimeball McCain Stoops To New Lows in What “Certainly Smells of Dirty Politics and Dirty Campaigning” in South Carolina
Check Out The Following Transcripts/Videos:
SCARBOROUGH: He’s about straight talk. Let me show you this flyer that John McCain is sending out in South Carolina. This is my favorite flyer thus far in the political campaign season. John McCain, who criticized negative, distorted campaigning in South Carolina in 2000 and swore he wouldn’t do it, sends out a flier attacking Mitt Romney for not supporting George Bush’s tax cuts early enough. What’s left off of here, Willie, is the fact he called those tax cuts tax cuts for the rich. He voted against them, and he told Tim Russert last week he was proud that he voted against them. But he’s criticizing Mitt for not supporting them early enough. Problematic or Straight-Talk Express kicking it into overdrive.
GEIST: You’ve run for office. What’s the thinking there? You just bank on the fact that people in South Carolina don’t check their facts? What’s the thought there?
SCARBOROUGH: Seriously, I would never send out a flier like that. I really wouldn’t because, if people do catch you doing that, then it suggests that you think they’re stupid, and it also opens up the tax issue.
SCARBOROUGH: Also, very interesting, John McCain mailer went out. Now you’ll remember John McCain attacked in 2000, and he was going to be very positive. This is a McCain mailer that went out that’s talking about abortion. I don’t know if we have the other side of that or not. That’s one mailer that went out. There’s another one.
GEIST: What you’re talking about, it’s also related. He attacked Mitt Romney. He said Mitt Romney funded taxpayer funded abortions. Calls Massachusetts tax-achusetts, criticizes him for not supporting the Bush tax cuts.
SCARBOROUGH: I’ll be very careful here. I will only say this. That John McCain accused people of attacking him unfairly in South Carolina. I would suggest, if you’re flooding mailboxes with mailers that say Mitt Romney didn’t support George Bush’s tax cuts early enough and yet you voted — actually, you, the guy sending out the mailer, voted against George Bush’s tax cuts, were one of only two people that voted against George Bush’s tax cuts, called George Bush’s tax cuts, tax cuts for the rich. And you were on Tim Russert two weeks ago, and you said you were still damn proud that you voted against George Bush’s tax cuts. To send out a mailer attacking Mitt Romney for not supporting George Bush’s tax cuts early enough certainly smells of dirty politics and dirty campaigning.

I cant believe that Mr. Cogeniality would do such things. He is all about straight talk, right?
Power has corrupted John McCain and that is another reason why he does not have my support!

The so-called “attack” (comparison) ads hurt Romney, supposedly.
Now McCain is using dirty, below the belt attack ads that are deceptive. SC voters, I would think, would be less forgiving than NH voters.

McCain has gone after Mitt since before Iowa because of Mitt’s “negative” ads, which are just that — Mitt showing how he is different from other candidates, how he is contracted from others. And then, here we have, McCain doing a 180 degree turn, and doing the actual negative ads! Unlikely Mitt, He is not saying anything about his own stance in this ads. I say, let’s have the contract ads again!

Mitt should do some ADs on McCain’s “negative ads” comments and show this one!

Be careful about attacking another candidate personally. The “slime ball” thing will last a very long time and could be used against Mitt in the future. Certainly draw attention to the hypocrisies but do not dive into the sewer just to score a point against the opposition.

Mitt has NEVER sent out an advertisement that “attacked” anyone’s character, religion, wealth, etc. All of his ads pointed out the differences in their positions, accomplishements, records, etc. Mitt is an admirable man! He doesn’t attack anyone, just the problems and gets them resolved and makes things work! He is the only viable candidate in the race! I sure to wish that you all would “get it” - the media doesn’t show Mitt in the light of the others. They don’t give him air time equal to the others, they don’t laud his record or accomplishments, because they want Huckleberry or McCain to get the nomination BECAUSE neither on the them will be able to beat the Democratic darling, Hillary!
GET IT!!! MITT is IT!!! We need this man and everyone really needs to wake-up and realize that the conservative candidates are NOT Huckabee and McCain! MITT is IT!!!!

I think the point is being missed that McCain wants to run this campaign because it will allow for him to label Romney a flip flopper should Romney respond. Romney should not be baited into the same campaign he ran in IA, but instead should stick to his current message about how his experience makes him the candidate of change. Contrasting his experience vs. McCain in terms of the ability to bring change to Washington is where Romney will win. McCain has great experience, but his experience suggest that he will be a strong stalwart for America in foriegn policy, but also will not be able to change the status quo in Washington. This is a strong argument and attacks like these from McCain should not distract Romney from his current winning message.

I keep hearing people say they want specifics not rhetoric. This is from both parties and from supporters of most candidates. Specifics on how Mitt would deal with the economy would be welcome. Would he snag somebody like a Clay Christensen for example? Maybe it is just because I follow the campaigns very closely but the same old presentations are off putting.

McCain and Huckabee are playing very dirty. The push polling has and will continue to hurt Romneys campaign. I am very frustrated that people are supporting John McCain. He does not support the republican platform and he says things to win votes but he is not driven to deliver.
