More interesting tidbits about the attack ad that wasn’t.
From —–>The Washington Post
“Huckabee said the ad which attacks Romney for being too dishonest to be president — was sent to television and radio stations yesterday but will not be broadcast. He said he had made the decision 10 minutes before his [12:00pm CST] news conference, surprising even his top staff. ‘I pulled the ad. I do not want it to be run at all,’ he said.”
More from —–>The Politico
“[Senior aide Charmaine] Yoest, who set up the staging of the press conference, just came back out to the hallway and said she was told about five minutes before the event started that he would not air the ad. By then, she said, it was too late to remove the signs.”
The Cedar Rapid Gazette tells a different story and says the ad was pulled from KCRG-TV9 TV9 in Cedar Rapids at precisely 10:01am CST:
More—–>Cedar Rapids Gazette
“An official at KCRG-TV9 TV9 in Cedar Rapids confirmed that the station received the 30-second spot from the Huckabee campaign shortly after 6 a.m. today but was told at 10:01 a.m. not to air the commercial and the station did not show the paid advertisement.”
Looks like we have a Drama King on our hands Ladies and Gentlemen.

Great insight. I just saw the video of the press conference and Huck tells everybody he decided “about an hour ago” not to air the ads. Looks like somebody isn’t telling the truth! There was plenty of time to take signs down, plenty of time to inform staff! How hypocritical!…don’t know why I always thought that Fred Thompson was the actor in the race!

But the word NOW is ‘LEADERSHIP’ One Tall Man with a Smile and FULL head of of Hair Standing TALL! Got it?

This in Merriam Webster’s Online dictionary as the new definition of Flip/Flop: “I decided to create an attack ad, then decided not to air it, then decided to air it anyway, but I’ll vow not to air any more in the future, unless I change my mind.”
And that, ladies and gentlemen, is the “Howard Dean Scream” of the 2008 primaries.
But having said that, I’m confident there will be more and better things to come…

McCain poll numbers depend on how well he does among independents and democrats in NH. Romney’s support in NH is pretty steady and McCain will not be able to gain among conservatives to defeat Romney, barring of course a major gaffe by Romney. Most democrats and independents will participate in the democratic primary and not the republican one and I bet among those that do participate in the republican primary, many will pull the lever for Ron Paul. Keep in mind that the polls cannot tell you who will actually vote in the primaries or caucuses, all they point out to really at this stage is the level of support on a broad spectrum. So the polls can indicate the level of support, but not pinpoint exactly how the vote will turn out. For that you have to rely on past data, as the support McCain got in 2000 to clue you in on what’s likely to happen. What is surprising is how now it seems McCain and Huckabee are aligning to help each other out against Romney and how it seems Giuliani has faded out of the lime light. Giuliaini is pitching his tent in FL, but in a futile effort it seems if Romney sweeps the states ahead of FL. Romney’s steadiness in this campaign this year must be remarked on in a field with so many well known candidates. What should be made clear is that no matter how well known you are, you can’t substitute organization, strategy, and steadiness for name recognition. You still got to do the work. Romney is the only candidate on the GOP side who has done this and it’s paying off. The Democrats though are far and away above par in those areas than Romney’s republican competitors and it will be interesting to see how he performs against more well known candidates who also do the necessary work and who also have the backing of the national media.

Ann:
Huckabee has to be taking advise from Bill Clinton and James Carville on running his campaign, the problem being that Huck has been exposed. He is the “Howard Dean” of this years Iowa Caucus.
