Just a head's up....Buying support would be paying people to SIGN the petition. What Harris is doing is simply offering a stipend to those out beating the pavement. In case you didn't know, northern Virginia is pretty sparse on registered Republicans, because northern Virginia (like central Maryland, where I live) is dominated by government employees. I'd agree with you that there's a problem if Harris was paying people to sign the petition - that would actually be all kinds of illegal. But I don't see a problem with anyone earning a few dollars toward a cup of coffee if they're going to be out trying to track down NOVA's few registered Republicans.

(P.S. Your blog is VERY well-designed, I'm impressed!)

I hope he is spending his money here to buy signatures that will be meaningless after Mitt wins in Iowa. If he is spending it here to buy signatures, he can't be spending it elsewhere!
I really like the process here even though it is difficult, it means that the candidate must have some organization in the state. Even though our primary isn't until Feb 12th, they have to pay attention to us. It also is a great way to get Mitt's name out there to those who may not be paying attention yet.
