Rudy IS gaining amongst social conservatives. Today we have Pat Robertson, AND John Ashcroft basically endorsing the notion that “if he pledges to appoint conservative judges, he’s good enough for so-cons”. I am leaning toward Romney in the primary, but I would pull the lever for Rudy in the general election if he is the nominee.
OK, someone tell me why I see so many people freaking out about the endorsment for Rudy by Robertson. Yes I too was taken back by this endorsment. I thought that Robertson would eventually throw in with Romney, but this is in no way a death blow to Romneys campaign. Romney has the backing of many other very influencial evangelical leaders along with others who haven’t thrown in their support for anyone yet, but have said they would never back Rudy, Thomson, or even Huckabee (yes that would be you Dr. Dobson). So everyone take a breath. Now take another one, good. Now lets move forward the way Gov. Romney would want us to.
I just had to laugh after watching Pat Robertson endorsement of Rudy Gulliani. I thought Rudy looked strange dressed in full drag dancing in New York City. I just pictured Robertson dancing alongside of him like the Rockettes what a pair. Its to bad that Roberston is a victim of his own intolerance! Most people are shocked but not suprised by Robertsons poor judgement of character in backing Rudy! I feel sorry for CBN and its family!
Linda, the real beginning of the end for Mitt Romney is if he does not do well in Iowa and NH. Now, let us look at how Pat’s endorement could have impact on Mitt’s leads there. Iowans has no love for Rudy, howsoever. Rudy has kicked them down by ignoring their biggest party fund raising event (Ames), which they use to fund their local and state races. Rudy has not been visiting Iowa as often as others. Even now, he barely has the advertisements going on there. So, Rudy won’t win Iowa. That leaves us with NH, where the lead between Mitt and Rudy is much narrower. NH is historically social liberal/moderate, and very fiscal conservative. They do not give a care for any endorement from the social conservatives like Pat. In fact, they booted Pat, after his good showing at IA, at last two elections. They know Pat, and they do not like him. So, really, this endorement does not help Rudy dethroning Mitt from his positions in Iowa and NH. SC may be a different story, but as long as Mitt does well in IA and NH, he will be more likely to do well in other early states before SC, like Michigan and Nevada. Momentum is everything for Mitt’s team, and you can bet his team has plans in place to take advantage of that!
I just put that out there to see how others would respond. I’ve done a little research and this guy Robertson has a pretty shady past. I can see why he would like Rudy so much. Birds of a feather…

Linda,
Not a chance! Laughable to suggest it, IMO. Beginning of the end for Guiliani? Maybe.
