Too Late

July 20th, 2007 Posted in Mitt Romney

One of the biggest lessons that my Mother taught me growing up was to be early. Even with two wild boys in tow, my Mom was never late to anything. She said that being late to an event showed that you didn’t care about the event and that being late to meet people showed that you didn’t respect the folks that you were meeting with. Mom believed it was incredibly selfish to be late. To this day, my brother and I are early to everything!

One of the things that most bothered me about President Clinton was his constant tardiness. I thought revealed a great deal about his personality that we have had confirmed by numerous sources.

Now, I have a bit of a confession to make. I like Rudy Guiliani. I’m not going to vote for him in a Primary, but he’s got real charisma. I disagree with him about far more than McCain, but I find myself enjoying McCain’s demise much more than I will enjoy Rudy’s eventual defeat at the hands of GMR.

But, I may have to re-think liking Rudy. I know Mom wouldn’t like this!

As for me I would never pick Rudy. He smacks of someone who would take the country down the wrong path. Though I agree with some of the results he got in New York, I don’t like how he did it. I’m not for sure if this is the case, but from what I hear he ran the police like a mafia boss and plunged the city into debt to be able to clean it up. The way he waves his 911 experience around as proof of his ability feels like he’s treading on graves to get attention. He just kinda gives me a creepy feeling.

For me as much as I hate to say it, Ron Paul is my 2nd choice, the place where I disagree with him most is his policy of non-interventionism around the world. (WWI WWII) I do like how he would try to stop all the social programs and bring notice back to the 2nd amendment. (I own no gun, but I think I, or any other sane law-abiding citizen, should be able to own any kind of gun that they want)

I know that no candidate will match all of my positions, but Mitt Romney has the character and integrity to be a great president. He is able to look at both sides of an issue with an open mind and come to an honest decision. He does this with in mind of what the American people would want, but will come down against popular opinion if he thinks it is in our best interests.

I agree with the thinking that frequently being late is a character flaw. It also speaks volumes about a candidate and his or her organization’s competence in planing a daily and weekly schedule. If you can’t show up for a speech on time, how are you going to lead a country of 300 million people, a $14 trillion economy and the most powerful military in the world?

I’ve been looking for a opp to explain where all of the Ron Paul support is coming from. He gets many hits on web polls, far more than the national polls would suggest. He is also THE favorite among callers on the C-SPAN Mourning Journal. Find out for yourself. Google ‘Ron Paul marijuana legalization’ Hundreds of sites! mostly blogs. Many I’m sure are directing their pot smoking friends to flood afore said venues. I think many of the leftest looney blogs support the legalization of all drugs!

Another good place where I don’t agree with Ron Paul.

Chronic tardiness in a manager has nothing to do with his staff or subordinates one wit. It is all about the manager. It is well known that when a person is habitually late to meetings he/she is simply conveying a message. Also, he is controlling the situation and the people who await his arrival.

The chronic late leader is telling his audience that in effect “my time is more important than yours.” Or “I am so very important that I routinely get interrupted by important people and unexpected events that cause me to be delayed. ” People like this intentionally want to send the signal that they are, in effect, more important than those around them.

This totally fits Giuliani’s reputation as being a leader of autocratic or authoritarian style. This tardiness fact fits Rudy Giuliani’s character perfectly.
