Arianna Huffington: Romney is dangerous for Democrats

Over the last few weeks I have been astounded by the personal attacks that McCain has spewed at Romney over immigration. One naturally concludes that when McCain knows that he is weak, wrong, and vulnerable, the only option is to lash out to try and damage his opponent in any way possible.

This same thing is happening on a much larger scale in the mainstream media. We have all seen them lash out it many ways at Romney, and what is at the heart of it? They realize that more than any other Repulican candidate, the Democrats are vulnerable in a general election when put up against Romney. Very rarely will you get them to admit it, and even on rarer occasion will they further opine as to why they are scared. In a seemingly off-the-cuff type of comment, Arriana Huffington lets you in on some of the fear that drives the mainstream media’s constant attacks on Romney.

So…I want all of your thoughts. For what specific reasons are the Democrats scared to put their candidate, especially Hillary, up against Romney in the general election?

Wow. I cannot believe she said that. I bet she wishes she could take it back now! LOL! I get an e-mail every day saying what the top news stories are on Mitt, and almost every day, the Huffington Post is on that list. I usually don’t read the articles because they make me mad - they are so left wing, it’s hard to stomach.

Thanks for sharing the quote - that makes my day! :-P

This could end up being one of the simplest elections ever: Annoying Woman vs. Attractive Man. Period.

Rasmussen already shows Hillary 44 - Romney 40….His best match-up. Hillary will not quit the race for the benefit of the party - as the Clintons ARE the party (their plan). She knows she’s a long shot….but it’s her only shot. The party can go jump off a cliff as far as the Clintons are concerned. And she’ll probably take it as she and Bill pretty much ARE the democratic party now. Jerry Brown predicted in ‘92 that the Clintons would destroy the party; they’ve got another 18 months to go.

Some of the things that make him scarry to the Dems -

    1. He is truly a family man with a great family of support behind him so when he talks about family values he knows what he is talking about.

    2. He looks presidential. Like it has been noted before in some blogs, there isn’t another person that you could draw up that would look more presidential. Tall, good looking, speaks clearly, takes command of the floor when he is talking, very knowledgable. His stature is domineering. I didn’t notice how much taller he was and how much he stood out until they showed the picture of all of the candidates next to eachother in that last campaign. He is a giant among men, figuratively and litteraly.

    3. He exudes SUCCESS. Looking at his business track record they know that they cannot put a dent in his “superman-like” success as CEO of one of the most sucessful equity firms in the world and how he took over a massive mess in the olympic games (an international function dealing with many foreign leaders I might add) and made it a tremendous success. No one can touch him in regards to his business sense.

    4. He is the true conservative of the top runners right now, and I would argue that he still will be when Thompson gets in the race and that scares the living tar out of the dems. Someone that will trully stand up and fight for conservative American values. Someone that will fight tooth and nail against things that he trully does not believe are right for the country and fight just as hard for things that he knows need changing in America. I firmly believe that this is why Guliani is getting so much of the press as they repeat his name over and over regarding the NATIONAL polls and hardly talk about the polls where Mitt is starting to dominate. They hope that they can get someone more moderate in the Rep. spot so that if, heaven forbid, Billary loses at least it would be to a moderate. The easier pill for them to swallow.

    5. They have very little that they can use as attack weapons with Mitt. With McCain they can use his harsh demeanor, his amnesty bill, his age, his finance reform bill, his family lifestyle (I am not suggesting that anyone should use these I am merely saying that I believe that the Dems would use these against any Rep. candidate if they could). With Guiliani, well where do we start? They can use his spotted family history, his stance on abortion, they can try to find any type of dirt regarding 9/11 that would bring his primary platform down to the ground (even if what they brought forward was half truths or false all together they could easily damage him). What about Romney????? The best they have been able to shoot at him have bounced off even though they pick the weapon up and try and try again over and over with no effect. He changed his position on abortion. (LARGE SARCASTIC GASP INSERTED HERE) Let’s use the words flip-flopper over and over again for the next 9 months and see what kind of reaction we can get. Obviously it hasn’t done the effect that they were hoping for as Mitt’s numbers continue to rise, both primary states wide and nation wide. Then they try to continue with the flip-flopping comments on everything they can get their hands on in which he has fine tuned (NOT FLIPPED) his stance on things. He has never been for assault weapons, understandably so, but he is pro 2nd ammendment, but the dems try to spin his support for the 2nd ammendment and his support of assault weapons ban as a flip-flop. WHAT????? Not happening. And what do they do? Keep at it with the flip-flop comments about anything else that he hasn’t changed on but it makes them feel better because that is the phrase that helped them lose the last election when their candidate truly did flip-flop back and forth on things. I compare it to a person picking up a musket and going to attack a tank because a musket is what won the last fight for their opponenet even though it is obsolete and irrelevant to the fight. Of course then they jab and hide with their biggotry and try to get the conservative Christian base to join in the fight against Mitt and his religion as though that disqualifies him for the position of Commander in Chief. They are running low on mud in the ring with Mitt so they are worried that he can’t be stopped and I truly don’t think that he can be.

Mitt Romney in 2008 - run and hide you left wind nuts!!!!

    This from the last post:

“run and hide you left wind nuts!!!!”

Are Republicans incapable of speaking (or writing) in support of their party and/or candidate without resorting to sophomoric language? For the record, I am a “left wing nut” who sees some interesting qualities in Romney. Ignorant opposition bashing is only hurting the Republican cause.
