This post may appear to be all about John Edwards, but it is not. The timeliness of these cartoons was just too good to pass up, so I placed them here. For those of you who missed Dennis Miller on The O’Reilly Factor, you really missed it! The only thing I can say about his performance there tonight is AMAZING. Miller’s insightful wit is unmatched in any media in my opinion. He was in top form there tonight — indeed.

Dennis Miller’s piece was split between comments about John Edwards and Mitt Romney. Among the many cutting and truly funny things he said about Edwards, he called him an “empty vessel” and a “complete phoney.”

Dennis Miller is backing Giuliani and in fact was set to introduce RG at an event in Los Angeles tonight (5/30), but ALL of his comments about Romney were positive. O’Reilly and Miller spent a considerable amount of time discussing the many positive attributes of Romney’s rise in the polls, his appeal to voters, and his strengths. Dennis Miller even mentioned Romney’s contribution to building Staples, which caught O’Reilly totally off-guard. Clearly O’Reilly was completely unaware of Romney’s work in starting and building Staples. He seemed pleasantly surprised. In this segment, the most important thing that came out of it was that neither one of these icons said one negative thing about our man! Dennis Miller is a very bright guy and as a strong supporter of Rudy Giuliani, he easily could have take a few swipes at Romney and he did not. In fact, his change in body language indicated to me that he knows GMR is a serious contender and is on his way to possibly winning the GOP nomination. Both O’Reilly and Miller had some really great things to say about GMR, but most of all I loved these quotes by the master comedian as they discussed GMR’s involvement with Staples:

” . . . and he is competent too!” — and this, “His naysayers had better watch out because with Romney it will be death by a thousand paper cuts!” — and finally, ” . . . and he is good at what he does!”

Those who place video clips on this site have much better technical skills than I, so I could not figure out how to embed the Dennis Miller segment into this post. You will need to go to either of the two links in between the cartoons here and find the clip with Dennis Miller’s mug shot and play it from Fox. Believe me — it is well worth the effort!

I have to say I was very suprised and impressed with the kind words from Miller during the interview. I was expecting at least one jab of some sort but everything he said seemed complimentary towards Romney.

I started to get the feeling that he was on the stern of the boat and getting ready to jump ship to the on that he feels is going to finish the race first. He just seemed like he is “sticking” with Guliani almost out of loyalty instead of backing the person who is most qualified for the presidency.

I doubt that we would be able to expect any such niceites from the Mcain camp if they are anything like he is. They are more likely to be sophmoric and start some “liar-liar pants on fire” type of comments when asked about Mitt.

I have a hard time listening to Dennis on his show because at times his moderately mono-tone voice tends to get old and boring but I think he is a very intelligent man that knows that it is going to come down to RG and MR for the candidacy.
