Romney Attracting Crowds in SC

According to a participant at one of Romney’s Columbia stops, the place was pretty crowded:
It was a good event. If his popularity keeps growing it will be the last time he can meet a group in a place that small. Not sure how many people attended but it was crowded. At least twice as many as I thought would be there. He spoke for about 12 minutes and covered a wide range of topics.
Anyone else who attended is welcome to comment.
Comments from two who attended:
Jeff says:
I was at the meeting as well. One of the things that seemed to resonate throughout the crowd was just how dynamic Mitt was. People were, or seemed, astounded at what they discovered - a youthful, energetic, principled man with solid ideas who is going to be a player.
Mitt is legit.
If South Carolinians will give him a chance before becoming lock step with the McCain folks, I think they will see that Mitt has a far greater chance to be elected in the general election than do our other Republican candidates.
Even if McCain’s tactics prove successful in SC, they won’t necessarily transfer to Iowa, New Hampshire, and into Super Tuesday.
I am a foot soldier for Mitt, and I’m going to bust my hump to help him any way possible. The future of our nation is simply too important.
Seth Duncan says:I attended the event. My fiance and I arrived around 730, we wanted to be sure to get a good seat. The Governor arrived around 830 and after a few initial hellos he was introduced. Governor Romney spoke for about 15 minutes on topics like the war on terror, the environment, education, immigration, and the economy. A couple clips from the event have been posted on YouTube.com courtesy of schotline.com who attended the event. I was able to speak to a reporter from US News & World Report for about 10 minutes to share my opinion of the Governor and the other candidates, so look for some comments from a guy name Seth Duncan in the next issue or two. Overall, I thought the event went really great. We sat with two other gentlemen who were fence sitters and after the event they were pretty much in the Governor’s corner, so chalk up two more supporters. It’s interesting, Governor Romney took two questions from the crowd, one on immigration and the other on something else, and no one brought up his religion, his abortion stance, or the gays thing. However, when I was reading news articles from many sources from this event and others they all reported that the Governor was being plagued by those issues. One of the guys I talked to said that he was wanting to hear an explanation, but after I explained the Governor’s explanation he was fine with it. It seems as though the media is more infatuated with those issues than those who attended this event. Liberal media I guess. Well that’s about it other than one of his sons was also by his side during the trip. Thanks.

Mitt is legit. Too legit to quit! Mitt voters made overnight! Probably Not Amzing for those who know him personally or have met him, Wow, the speed at which he is gaining support just astounds me, and should probably astound th mind considering we are still a year away ! You know u hear media people say things like, i still think its too far away to comment, well apparently the real story isnt that its to far way to comment, the real story is that hearts and minds really are being won over, his message sems to have reached far into the hearts of those at that what must have been a fantastic event. Im out of words.

Encouraging! Thanks for the post, but SC is going to be a tough sell to those Conservative Protestants. I consider SC Romney’s most important primary hurdle. He will do very well in NH and IA but A 3rd or worse showing there would be a momentum breaker.

well only mitt can break his own momentum-im sure he will be sure to watch over his sc potential voters. But you are right, he needs to keep this up.
