From KSL.com:
2008 presidential race hasn’t even officially begun, but a new poll shows Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney is the favored candidate among Utah voters.About 44 percent of Utahns surveyed said they would vote for Romney if a presidential race were held now, the Deseret Morning News said in a copyright story Sunday.
Sen. John McCain R-Arizona was second at 15 percent, according to the poll of 416 registered voters conducted for the newspaper Nov. 14-16 by Dan Jones & Associates. The poll has an error margin of 5 percentage points.
Romney was also first among Utah Republican voters at 60 percent and drew 33 percent of support from independent voters, the poll found.
McCain drew support from only 14 percent of Utah Republicans, but 21 percent of independents.

Hey just stopping in - this is a fantastic site. I had heard about Mitt and just read about him and he sounds like a great candidate for 2008. Keep up the good work!

Mitt has 3 advantages in Utah that I can see.
1. He is well known due to his Olympic turnaround.
2. 50% of the population is Mormon.
3. Not only is there a huge republican majority, but there is a huge conservative republican majority. This makes both McCain and Giuliani unattractive.
Unfortunately, Romney needs a lot more than Utah. Let’s get his name out!

Sorry, I am voting Democrat,
I am from a Democrat majority state and am from a county with a liberal tradition. Romney will not win a majority of votes in my state, we are blue state, thank goodness for that.
We are a now once again a progressive, forward-looking state with a Democratic Governor-elect.
Needless to say, I will not vote for Romney, I do not regard a conservative antigay to be a proper president able to do deal with both straight and gay Americans alike. Romney has his favorites the straights only and while he says gay Americans “should not be discriminated against” (a pet phrase to ward off those who are fair-minded but who may not be t informed enough about gay Americans to be able to respond to that pet statement of his) we all know that gay Americans are not really equals in his eyes and are not really part of his vision for America.
