    Quote from Thomas J. Allum:
Personally, I’m curious as to who the single person is that voted for Romney.

There are six people who have voted for Romney thusfar, and I am one of them.

I will quote from my blog, and give you my reasoning for wanting Romney for President.

“I, ParachuteGurl, believe strongly that Romney has the vision and the strength to lead this nation in the post George W Bush Era. I believe that he can be a force of moderation in an increasingly polarizing political landscape.”

I strongly believe that if we elect another arch conservative (like GWB) that it will be the downfall of the Republican party. I voted for George W Bush both times he ran for office, and I believe he’s a decent President. But, I am increasingly getting tired of him, and that doesn’t say a lot considering I am a republican. I know of many other republicans who voted for Bush who are tired of him. It doesn’t bode too well if the people who elected you are tired of you, not to mention being less than a year into the second term. Can you imagine how people are going to feel after having him as President for another three years? I believe he isn’t standing up for himself well enough on Iraq (I found it ridiculous that he went on national TV in front a group of US Soldiers to talk about Iraq and his actions…I mean if he believes the war in Iraq is justified then he needs to stop trying to justify himself, it just makes him appear weak), and the rest of his agenda is just jumbled. I don’t see why with a majority in both houses of congress he hasn’t had more of his legislation passed. Not to mention the whole Social Security issue. This to me is looking more and more like Bill Clinton and his health care scheme of 1993. I believe that with Romney we’d have a person much more ambitious and able to get his agenda’s passed, not to mention the fact that he’s not an arch conservative that is polarizing to the rest of the electorate. He’s a proven leader, and he’s also fiscally brillant.

So, that’s my reasoning for going for a moderate (who leans conservative) over any of the other candidates.

Now back to my comment about if we elect another arch conservative to the Presidency. I believe that if that happens, we are setting ourselves up (as Republicans) for years of Democratic rule. Because it’ll just push us further and further to the right and the pendulum will have to swing the other way at some point. Whereas if we elect a more moderate candidate, the rest of the electorate won’t hate us as much and our agendas will be in the landscape of political thought for years to come.

Mitt Romney is amazing. He looks like a President. He sounds like a President. He must be a President!

He’s definitely facing an uphill battle, but I have faith in this guy. Even if he doesn’t win the nomination, I think he’s got a strong chance at getting the VP nom.

MITT ROMNEY, YOU ROCK MY WORLD. WOOT, WOOT!!!

P-Gurl, I voted for Romney at the straw poll, have been impressed when I’ve seen him on TV, but I think it’s still a bit early for me to get on board with one candidate or another. I commend your activism, though, and wish you well.
