If the Mitt Fits - Powerlineblog

This is a very interesting article. Not an out and out endorsement of a Romney run, but definitely not a wash of his candidacy/nomination at all.

Just thinking

I was just thinking as I was sitting at my desk prior to turning in for bed. I know the election is just over 40 months off, but just the thought of it can sometimes consume me sometimes. For the past 10 years I have been rearing children, and this is going to be the first election in some time where I’ll actually get to get very involved. I pray every day that Heavenly Father guards Ann’s health and allows this nation to be lead by Mitt Romney. I understand that he would put her health first, and I very much respect him for that. I just think it’s time for a man like him to sit in the oval office. I will be giving it my all as we go through the process in the next 3-3 1/2 years. Any of you have any thoughts on the subject?

I’m proud to be from Massachusetts, where John Kerry will be the junior senator until 2008.

You see, I don’t believe Senator Kerry is the leader our country needs.

Let me say I respect his four months under enemy fire in Vietnam; we should honor that service as we do the service of all our fighting men and women.

No, it’s John Kerry’s record in his nearly 40 years since Vietnam that’s the question. Study that record; if you want someone who voted for tax hikes 98 times, then yes, send him. If you want cuts in intelligence funding, then yes, send him. If you think that during the great national policy debate of the 1980’s Ronald Reagan was wrong and Ted Kennedy was right, then by all means send in John Kerry. Senator Kerry now tells us he has a clear position on the War on Terror.

He voted NO on Desert Storm in 1991 and YES on Desert Shield today. Then he voted NO on troop funding, just after he had voted YES.

Romney pondering presidential run

June 22nd, 2005 | No Comments | Posted in 2008, News Articles

Boston Globe

BOSTON — His travel schedule gave him away long ago. Tuesday, Governor Mitt Romney conceded the obvious: He said that he is considering a run for president in 2008.

“If someone said, well, the governor’s testing national waters, that’s a fair characterization,” Romney said in response to a reporter’s question at the John F. Kennedy Library and Museum after delivering a speech on health coverage. “But I’m planning on running for governor. Time will tell, I’ll make a final decision and an announcement in the fall, and we’ll go from there.”

My Thoughts!

June 22nd, 2005 | No Comments | Posted in Analysis, Commentary, and Editorials

At the end of the last political cycle I was certain that it would be Jeb Bush that would be the next Republican Nominee in 2008, despite the fact that he’d repeatedly said no he wasn’t running. Surely it couldn’t be true, but the more I think about it, it just isn’t Jeb’s time. I believe down the road he will reside in the White House, but right now is not that time. Which lead me to Romney. He’s kind of came out of no where, but he’s a brilliant mind. He turned an Olympics that was destined to be an embarrassment, and made it look like a rose. Not to mention he was elected Governor to a state that is ultra overwhelmingly Democratic. He is absolutely brilliant when it comes to money. He’s squeaky clean, very moral, and has the personality that people like.

Romney’s my candidate that’s for sure!
